I'm considering a used VP50 or VP50Pro. I don't need the NR features of the Pro so I'm leaning towards the cheaper VP50.
Would appreciate a quick resumé of the differences between the two and possibly more important, known issues of each model.
Thanks.

Ditto. The Pro is the way to go (yeah I know it rhymes). :)

Why would you want a VP in the first place? What is your setup?

We are assuming if he is posting that he has a need for it. But generally a VP will ALWAYS help a system (though how much does depend on the display, source, etc...).

Well, he may just need something that does the switching of inputs for him. Or he has no SD signals to de-interlace and/or upscale or ....
I am just asking, because assumptions can be tricky.

Yup, he has to list his equipment and general desires if he wants to receive the best help.
I second the Edge comment. Get one. :)
Ofcourse I should have provided some info about system and goals
The video-part of the system:
- Mitsu HC3100, 720p DLP fp
- Oppo 980 (576i50)
- PS3
- sat receiver (576i/720p/1080i all @ 50Hz)
- Algolith Flea for TV signals
Previously had an older Iscan handling 576i (film content) deinterlacing only and quite unexpectedly, I recently found a buyer for that one.
Main goal is to improve video content deinterlacing. Also; the HC3100 accepts 1080p24 but doesn't handle 1080i60 video very well. 1080p60 is not supported and I've learned from other Mitsu-owners that it won't sync to 720p24.
Configuring the Edge to output 720p50 and enabeling frame lock 1:1 would result in 720p24 for BD film content wich is a no-go in my setup. Hence my thoughts of a VP50. Using display profiles I can get 720p48 wich is accepted by the Mitsu.
I can buy a used VP50 for less then what a new Edge costs in my country. A used Pro can be had for ~50% more then the Edge.
I've not had time yet to read through both VP50 threads again. Basically I'd like to know if the issues that plauged the VP50/VP50Pro are now all solved. Issues I remember are audio dropouts and feathering/stepping artefacts. Any other issues I should be concerned about?
Thanks.

Well, VP50s go on Ebay for a little bit more than an new Edge, and WAY less than a VP50 Pro.

Very true. But I was merely doing a short answer on the specific question. :)
