ESPN is showing something from Augusta, but it is not the Par 3 contest and it is in Spanish.

They just cut to commercial.

The picture looks outstanding.

The CableCam has provided a few great sweeping shots of the pond.

This is truly a great event with the family aspect. Really glad The Masters has allowed this to be shown these last few years.

As usual, the Masters is the most beautifully presented sporting event of the year. I don't even like golf all that much, but I watch as much coverage of the Masters as I can. I wish it would rub off on other major sporting events. Can you imagine if this much care was taken with the presentation of the Super Bowl or the World Series?

They'd never give up the money like Augusta National is willing to do to control the broadcast.

Watching the big 3 play together was priceless. Jack still has it. What a fantastic par by Player on #9.

This much care is taken for those events as well. You are confusing the amount of effort put into an event and how the event is visually produced.

Looking forward to at least 3 days of Masters coverage--two in CBS's 1080i vs ESPN's 720p--with a new Panny 65VX100 high-end plasma, slated for Friday installation. Paid extra for a rush install to catch this year's Masters--after seeing most, if not all of them, on my now-decreased year-2000 CRT RPTV. Always find that bright, live 1080i golf coverage is good for judging and setting realistic color, etc. This designer/commercial plasma monitor may need some fine pro tweaking or maybe even an external color-mangement processor. -- John

I guess I was referring to presentation, as opposed to production. Splitting hairs...

Arny was all over the place. Gary player is playing his last master this week.

I had a friend some years ago who replaced a local journalist and had early entrance privilege. His name was picked on monday, after the tournament, and he played the Augusta national. Lucky bum.

The Masters is unique in televised sports. They control almost every aspect of the broadcast, and are very particular in how they allow the event to be covered.

Over time, other sports have let the various networks drive the way they are covered, thus the drastic difference in presentation.
