I've had my tivo connected to my pionner elite and into my tv for over a year, today i got the dredded HDMI connection not permitted, for some reason the handshake is not happening, i'm not sure where the problem is, I can play bluray movies from my PS3 connected the same way but the tivo will not work, i tried hooking up the hdmi cable directly into the tivo from the tv and still nothing, i turned the tivo off and on and left the tv on and nothing, Tivo customer support is of course blaming the TV and my TV manufacturer is of course blaming Tivo, since the blurays work i'm inclined to think the tivo is to blame, any ideas??

Do I understand correctly that if you use the same cable as you use from your PS3 and connect it to the same HDMI port as you use from your PS3 and you output the same resolution from the TIVO as you do from the PS3 that your TV does not recognize the signal? If yes then it certainly appears to be a failure of the HDMI output port on the TIVO. Do any other TIVO outputs such as component work?

Yes, the Tivo does work on component cables, the strange thing is that I purchased a philips HD tv and the tivo did work with HDMI on that one, so to sum things up the TIVO works via HDMI on a different TV but the TV that the TIVO is on used to work with the TIVO but no more, the handshake happens with the PS3 but not the TIVO but the tivo works with another TV, so I'm guessing is a compatibility issue with my older TV, but why now? after one whole year??

Has TIVO downloaded any firmware upgrades to their unit recently?

tivo has a new upgrade out that just started rolling out about a week ago. one of my S3 units got it but the other S3 and Tivo HD have not gotten it d/l to them yet. It is 11.0c. not much changed it seems. hasn't caused any problems with that S3 that i have seen.

Well, it's connected to the internet all the time so it may have downloaded an upgrade on it's own, I can't really tell....
