View Full Version : Way to search/find TV overall width?

I have just under 48" horizontal space to fit a flat panel. There are good choices in both LCD and plasma, and while I won't buy inferior products just to maximize the screen, I'd be happy with most of the top level sets.

Any 46" will fit in that space, but there are a few 50" and 51" that could fit there if the bezel is thin enough. Is there a tool out there, or a website/vendor site, that allows you to search by the width of the entire unit? Or even a spreadsheet-type comparison where you can choose overall width as a category to display?

The other option is looking up specs on each individual unit, and with new panny out in March, plus those coming in May, plus the new Samsung LCD's, etc, that's very arduous.

Thanks

Since every manufacturer uses a different size edge (and most even fluctuate between models), the only way to do it is the arduous way.

If Crutchfield sells it, they will have that spec readily available, right down to the 16th of an inch. They always have a large spreadsheet with all the specs clearly printed out in their catalogs, and I would assume that's also available online. They carry most of the latest models of the top brands.

Places like BB and Walmart also list the exact measurements of the panel in very small print at the bottom of the shelf placards (probably Sam's, too, but I never really looked that closely).
