View Full Version : SDI out in Calibre Vantage HD-2
I would like to know if someone is able to make a change to my Calibre Vantage HD-2 for have the SDI
I would also like to know if the SDI can leave in progressive or interlaced leaves only
.. and even if I can use all the filters of Vantage
thanks.. and sorry for my english
Adding HDSDI output isn't a trivial pursuit. It isn't what you want to feed into your display system anyway, because the output would be component 4:2:2 (progressive) and what you want to feed is RGB 4:4:4 so that you can pixel map 1:1. Although there are newer HDSDI format standards that can handle RGB 4:4:4, I don't think that any display/projector system that you would be dealing with would be able to handle the newer highspeed (3G) format.

OK, you lost me somewhere. He doesn't want 4:2:2, he wants 4:4:4, which, by the way, he doesn't want because it isn't accepted by anything.
If we are to assume he isn't using broadcast level gear (display-side), then what source pray-tell is going to deliver anything higher than 4:2:2 to begin with? <not trying to be an ass--just curious>
OP--I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you--I'm just puzzled by the response... Gary Murrell on these boards performs SDI mods--I'm sure he would be happy to discuss this with you.
I use the Vantage to connect to a PC via HDMI card Blackmagic Intensity
But there are also cards for PC SDI
how can I do to talk to Gary Murrell?

Did you read his post? He asked for SDI OUT not SDI IN. The output format of the Vantage is RGB 444. It doesn't matter what the input format is, the VP converts it to RGB 444. That's what is displayed by the monitor and that's the format that you want to output to feed a display device. I was assuming that he was trying to feed a display device, because he didn't state anything to the contrary in his original post. An SDI output isn't going to buy you anything anyway, because it is the same data with either interface. Furthermore, trying to install something like this in the Vantage, you run the risk of damaging the motherboard and voiding the warranty. It's not worth it.

Yes I read his post. I was not aware that the Vantage outputs RGB 444, nor was that made clear in the OP. You have now made that clear. Thank you--I see where you were coming from. :)
I think I have understood (though not entirely clear to me, because I do not understand English very well)
then I shall of the HDMI

You already have an SDI interface established with the BlackMagic converter, so why do you want to mess around inside of the Vantage? It's a relatively expensive piece of hardware and if you break something inside, you'll probably spend more repairing it than the modification would be worth. Anyway, if you want to contact Gary, I believe that he is at CustomHT (Custom Home Theater). His email address should be in his AVS user profile.
I contacted Gary Murrell, but have not yet received a response
I did not understand "You already have an SDI interface established with the BlackMagic converter"
which SDI interface? which Blackmagic converter?
I have a Blackmagic Intensity Pro HDMI
...I did not understand "You already have an SDI interface established with the BlackMagic converter...
Apologies. I misread what you previously posted. BlackMagic does make a DVI to SDI converter, as well as a lot of other things. AJA and Cobalt are vendors that make similar type of converters. All you need to do is to plug a DVI to SDI converter into the output of your Vantage and you've got SDI.
really?
but the quality I get with a DVI-SDI converter is the same as an SDI? and is better than a HDMI?
but with the DVI-SDI I can go out in progressive by video processor ?.... I heard that the SDI exit only in interlaced ... is right?
edit:
The Calibre Vantage does not have the DVI, but only the Analog RGBHV
The Vantage is a DISPLAY processor. Its designed specifically to drive DISPLAY devices, such as LCDs, plasma, projectors, not to feed video program streams into a PC (or whatever). You might want to consult with someone who sells professional video equipment that comes with SDI interfaces as standard equipment.
I do not know who to turn... and I do not know that there may be an alternative to a video processor
and I imagine that kind of professional tools cost a lot
What do you think of this

the questions are:
- I can leave the processor in SDI video with all the filters (deinterlacing, noise reduction, etc..)?
- In the SDI signal remains pure, or it undergoes a conversion?
- The quality of SDI ImageEvolution is higher than that of HDMI Calibre Vantage HD-2?
- I can go out at the resolution of 576p or 720p or 1080p?
- I can go out 50 Hz?
- Through which input / output handles the audio (I do not see connections for audio)?
