Hey guys,

I'm just about ready to purchase my two long HDMI cables: 45 ft and 50 ft.

I've read a lot of what people have purchased, and was wondering if I could get some advise.

Should I get the ones at Monoprice? I can't tell which ones are better (the tin, the silver, is it worth going to 50 for both to get silver).

I know the bigger the guage, the better.

I'm also looking for a single HDMI wall plate, and another HDMI wallplate with either keystones or HDMI and Cat 5e built in.

If I can place one order for all of this, fine. If not, I'm sure based on the threads which HDMI keystone jack is the best, much less which right angle HDMI keystone jack is the best. Monoprice only sells the HDMI wallplates with the 4" pigtails, so that doesn't help. Should I just get my 2 cables and HDMI plate from Monoprice, and look elsewhere for the HDMI + Cat 5e keystone plates? If so, where?

Thanks.

I think the monoprice hdmi cables will be fine, as long as your not concerned with 1.3a compliant (no need to at this time anyway)...I don't think they have one over 25 feet that meets those standards. Can you use your hdmi cable with pass through wall plates (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=105&cp_id=10425&cs_id=1042505&p_id=3997&seq=1&format=2)? This will cut down on the extra connections and any problems they would present.

If not, I think you can get everything you need from monoprice, except the hdmi keystone jack, but you can get the plate and cat5 jack from them. I think many will say the pigtail style is good to cut down on the cable coming loose behind the wall.

I like pigtails...can make installation a heck of a lot easier. Soldering VGA/HDMI sucks...

I used these (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=261-160) for mine and they really simplified it all for me. They are really cheap too. Hope this helps.

Oh I forgot to say I got a 50' cable kit from RixLabs (http://www.rixlabs.com/product_info.php?info=p62_RixPRO-EZConnect--HDMI-v1-3-Extender-Combo-15M---13M-2M--49F--43F---6F-.html) and it's been great.

Yeah, I bought an HDMI keystone for the wall near the regular TV, but after doing some experimental fitting and trying-to-bend-the-cable I just don't see it working out very well. The bluejeans in-wall HDMI cable I have is just too stiff to go 90 degrees in the 2-3 inches of wall depth it has to work with. A pigtail-style connector is much more likely to work, but for now I'm just going to use a bulk port and drop the cable through. Likewise for the YPrPb hookups at that location, which are more flexible cable but have really long RCA connectors that leave only about an inch of bend depth.

I do have a keystone-type HDMI plate in the ceiling for the projector, but it goes to an open attic with plenty of room to bend the cable.

I picked up one of these (http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=12783-60784-WP1011-WH-V1&lpage=none) at my local Lowes - kind of expensive compared to Monoprice, but it works!

It does not have a pigtail in the back, rather another female connector.
