I don't think it's gonna be a DVD-A. It may be more like the reissues and the LE of Playing the Angel, which had a regular DVD with the album in Dolby and DTS 5.1, plus remixes, videos, interviews, etc. Much as I personally would like this to be DVD-A, given the state of the format today, I just don't think it's gonna happen. :(

I did happen to stumble on this text at the amazon US listing but that can't be trusted especially if the official Depeche details don't say the same.

Actually I suspect it's some Amazon-ish way of detailing audio only parts of a video disc. Notice the use of the space 'DVD- Audio' vs 'DVD-Audio' (which they surely don't expect 99% of their audience to recognize as true dvd-a)?

Don't get me wrong I got excited by your post and very much hope it is the case that there will be true dvd-a 5.1 mixes for the US release(s).

Kind of unexpected though since all the previous US releases were in 5.1 DTS and the European releases were SACD.

It is not "DVDA", the format nor the band.

It is the same old usual DVD-V we're used to here in the States, with DTS 5.1 tracks...hopefully in 96/24 at least. I am still annoyed about no SACD.

However, if you purchase the $100 box set you get the bonus songs available only in that set in 5.1 as well. All I can say is I would be pretty p.o.'d if i dropped a c-note on that set and later they double-dip with a BD set featuring DTS-HD MA 96/24 surround tracks.

has it listed as DVD-a , but I think it is a forward to amazon for ordering. The DM forum states that they think it will be DTS 5.1 , no SACD or DVD-a corfirmed.

Looks like no DVD-A, like many of you already predicted.

Of course there's no DVDA - Mute records never did anything on DVDA at all, and sadly there are far too many idiots in online retail who seem to think that any DVD-Video disc that is music based is "DVD Audio".
It's a shame too, as the Depeche Mode albums would have been superb on DVDA.

This kind of stuff really brings out my OCD. It is killing me they didn't do a Hybrid/SACD DVD-V package like all their other releases.
