Can a scaler be used to set up different aspect ratios on a 2.0 ratio screen.
Example: I want a 1:78 movie to fill the height of the screen(I know it won't fill the width) and I want a 2:35 movie to fill the width if the screen. I'd like to do this without zooming the projector lens.

The Lumagen video processors allow you to enter the aspect ratio of your display. In your case you would enter 2.00. There are buttons at the top of the remote control for the input aspect ratio 4:3, LBox, 16:9, 1.85, 2.35 and Non Linear Stretch. You just need to press the appropriate input aspect button and the correct back bars will be added to the top and bottom or the sides of your image on the display.

Not sure I understand what you are doing scottyb. a 16x9 PJ is obviously not going to match a 2.0:1 screen, so would you zoom out the PJ so that part of the projected image was always outside the screen border? if so, then why bother, just get a 16x9 screen?

You would have to use the 'mask' control in the Lumagen (and maybe other VPs) to crop the edges off the image where they overspill the sides of the screen. I do this to a lesser degree having setup my HD350 and HDQ for my 2.35:1 screen: I have zoomed the PJ so that 2.40:1 films fill the screen height and use the HDQ to crop the overspill from the edges. When I watch 2.35:1 format films they also overspill the height of the screen so I can either set the crop to trim the excess height (my usual 'easy' option) or rezoom to fit.
