Well, I put up my 5/8" drywall in the ceiling, but i think i may have used to many screws. I know that sounds dumb, but i put a 1 5/8 screw about every 3.5 inches. Is this bad. It looks like i was machine gun happy. It all feels good and solid.

Is that the first layer of 2 or 3? Or the only layer?
It's excessive, but not bad

Just means you'll be doing more mudding than you would have had to if you did it like you're supposed to. No biggy.

jajaja, yeah I know it was excessive. I am only putting up one layer 5/8. Again, it looks all solid no breaks or nothing. I guess I will have to do some major mudding :D. Keep up the inspiration so that my theater ends up looking good. Thanks guys!

Sounds like you got a new tool you wanted to play with:D

Now that the damage has been done, it's a little late anyway.
I suggest getting yourself to the keyboard and asking questions when you don't know.../before/ you do it. This could save you a lot of time and stress when building your theatre - it's an art.

I feel sorry for the next owners of the house if they decide to tear out the HT and re-do the ceiling..... Curse words will be flying...

Jajajaja, Yeah your right! I hope they never have to tear down the ceiling.
I would suggest adding another layer, not only will it help sound proof your HT room, it will lower the amount of spackle and potential soft spots you have on your outside wall

This is actually a good suggestion. Since you haven't started mudding yet - grab a few more boards and throw it up there. You'll be happier.

If you are doing a second layer do not forget the green glue!

The only problem with putting in a second layer, which he should do, is he's going to constantly be hitting other screws below. lol...oh the webs we weave.
