Does anyone else get a horizontal break-line (vertical tearing) when zooming in on a 480i/p or 1080i signal with their VP50Pro? I do this when I watch 2.35:1 content or when stretching 4:3 content with Panorama and Zoom (to adjust for the horrible fishbowl panorama effect that DVDO has).

I have a VP50Pro with f/w 1.05b (but the same problem was there with 1.04) hooked up to a Pioneer PDP6010 on Dot-by-Dot mode (1080p). Going into the VP50Pro are a PS3 and TiVO HD via my Denon AVR3808 (latest f/w and all video processing turned off). I rewired the VP50Pro past the AVR because of all the audio pass-through problems, but the same tearing problem was present when the signal was going from sources to VP50Pro to AVR to TV.

Basically, if I zoom a 480i/p (from PS3 or TiVO HD) or 1080i signal beyond 11% horizontal and vertical, then I experience this problem. What happens is that during fast changing frames or ones with fire/flames in them, I get a horizontal break line (vertical tear) in the zoomed-in picture. As soon as I zoom out to the original, the tear goes away. During vertical pans the tear line goes away and comes back, and oddly enough, this never appears without the zoom.

I've tried everything. I even sent in the unit to DVDO and they said they couldn't reproduce the problem.

I would appreciate any help or corroboration so that we can press DVDO harder.

Thanks,

Cam

Maybe it's just my unit or setup then...

Okay, so I did tons of research and found out that the problem I had described before is called tearing, and others have experienced it when converting various interlaced signals to 1080p/24. But I couldn't find any posts with the issue happening whilst zooming.

I should note that I'm not seeing this issue when I zoom in on Blu-ray images that are already 1080p/24.
