I will be brief. For plasmas in your price range, stick with Panasonic or Samsung and you should do fine; Pioneer would be even better but will probably be too pricey, even with a big discount.

The loss of the BB extended BB warranty is no loss at all, except for the $150. Perhaps you can get them to refund it. Extended warranties offered by stores are just big money makers for them, and are practically worthless. If you do get an extended warranty, only buy it directly from the manufacturer itself. I don't know whether BB does there own repairs or contracts these out to a third party, but you are about as likely to find a technically qualified person workining at BB as you are at McDonald's! They are about as likely to ruin your set as to fix it!
