I'll be watching my preferred cuts of other movies while I wait for my preferred cuts of these movies. Business as usual.

EE or nothing. Theatrical is a money grab and everyone knows it.

It might make me a douche, but I love 'em enough to get the Theatrical to tide me over until the EE is released.

There are very few movies I'd do that for, these are three of them.

i thought new line indicated that they would be releasing the extended editions on blu-ray? i suppose they could release both versions at the same time, but to have 12 versions of 3 movies running around is a bit silly

The EE are due for release around the release of the Hobbit. Theatrical is a pathetic money grab and everyone buying it should feel rather stupid for showing the studios they can continue to screw the consumer time and again.

agreed, I think I will stick with the extended dvds and wait till the EE coinciding with the Hobbit. Not going to grab unless I See some ridiculous deal.

November and it's bare bones with no special features. EE's will be coming sometime in 2011.

LOTR is my favorite movie and I hate DDing, but I don't think I can wait. I already sold my SD EE DVD's.

You have to maximize the bitrates. No, seriously I bet they are including digital copies.

I'll rent the movies until the extended version is available for purchase. I have no intention of feeding their greed w/ my stupidity.

Oh, I am so getting these. I dig the EEs but I like the theatrical editions too, so I can legitimately enjoy them while the rest of you will feel all dirty if/when you cave in.

Neither do I, my Sammy 1200 makes em look great while I wait.

Theatrical is a pathetic money grab and everyone buying it should feel rather stupid for showing the studios they can continue to screw the consumer time and again.

does that include people who prefer the theatrical cut? no one is forcing anyone to buy anything. if you feel the theatrical cuts are worth $70 and want to buy them, great. if you think it's not worth it and want to wait for the extended edition that's great too.

while i waited for the extended editions on dvd, this time around i'll get the theatrical as i thought the extend editions were interesting, but an inferior movie experience.
