So I just got my surround sound system and now I face the part of having to run the speaker wire across my ceiling and down my wall. Is there a best way to do this? Staples, size etc? I'm afraid of puncturing the wire with these though. Are there brackets? Not sure what to do at this point.

Also just to note, in-wall run is not an option.

Why is it not an option?

And if having exposed wires is an issue for you aesthetically. I just moved myself, and I'm in the process of getting everything set up. I'm young and unmarried, so running wires across the walls and ceiling is not much of an issue :D Radio Shack sells mounting brackets, which is what I went with. Basically, they are small plastic loops that holds the wire, and there is a small tack attached to the loop that you hammer into the wall/ceiling. There are also other options if you need to hide the wire, but like I said that's not really an issue for me and this seemed like the easiest way for me to get wire up short of running it up with a staple gun (I may be a bachelor, but I'm passed the duct tape/staple stage). Most any retail store that sells AV equipment should have supplies for mounting/hiding wire.

Ya know just a minute ago I remembered when comcast came to give us cable/internet they left us with these mounting brackets. I just dug em out and they're working perfectly. Thanks for the response anyways! And I'm with you, exposed wire doesn't bother me.

Go to smarthome.com and search for tape wire.
