Hello,
I have a Samsung HL-T6187SAX that is about 1 year and 4 months old(from purchase) and of course now that the warranty is up, it is having issues.
After being on for about 10 - 20 minutes, the entire screen will suddenly go dimmer, then about 10 seconds later it will get dimmer again. This happens a few more times and then it will suddenly go black for about 2 seconds. This includes the menu screen; there is no picture at all. Then it will come back on at it's original brightness and the cycle will start again.
It occurs both with the HDMI input and the VGA(computer) input. It is much worse when the screen has a lot of bright colors such as white. For instance, it goes through the cycle every 30 seconds or so on the VGA input when I am in a word processing document where the screen is mostly white. It happens only every couple minutes when the image background is mostly dark colors. The same trend happens with the HDMI input(both cable TV and blue ray disks via PS3).
This tells me that something is overheating but I come from a computer background(know nothing about TVs) so I really have no idea. I know for a fact that one fan is spinning(the one on the bottom far right when facing the rear of the TV). I also don't feel a lot of heat coming from the back of the TV. Are there any other fans I should check?
Or has anyone else had this issue and have any suggestions?
All three lights on the front of the TV stay blank while this is happening.
Any thoughts would help. Thanks.
Ryan
