If you're looking for drywall which is absorptive...no. If you're looking for drywall for sound isolation purposes, there's QuietRock. Generally the economics favor two layers of drywall with Green Glue between layers. I have no clue what your application is, so telling us the problem you're trying to solve would be helpful.

There are a few acoustical "plaster" wall treatments used in acoustically designed spaces. There was an episode of This Old House where the large gathering space was treated because the owner was a concert musician. If you google sound absorbing plaster systems you will find some links.

here is the first one I found:

That system doesn't appear to be very DIY friendly. I suspect that is why most of use just use Linacoustic and fabric. Owens corning has a ceiling system of insulation and either a white or black stretch fabric.

Baswaphon can only be sold/installed by factory certified personnel. A DIYer cannot even purchase the stuff.

Another product, but only trained plasters could pull it off.

looking to improve sound quality for great room with many hard surface like floors and windows and is open in the back to the rest of the house and also has 20 foot ceilings.

from my others posts, i know about drapes and rugs and all, but just wanted to know if there is anything else out there i could use instead of standard sheetrock that would improve my room's acoustics?

behind the 5/8 sheetrock is 2x6 studs with standard R-21 insulation.

any suggestions?

Acoustical wall treatments over the sheet rock.
