I need a new TV, but am torn as to what to get.
I have been looking at a Mit65735, or the newer version of this same TV with the 120hz and new bulb, which I think is the 65737 or 65835.
I like the price of the 65735, but I am concerned about the 60hz and bulb. The newer Mit is about 1k more.
Any insight or thoughts comparing the two?
Thanks.

I bought the 65835 today for 2K w free stand & delivery. The best deal is the 65736. I see them for as low as $1450.

I am in the same situation, and at this point leaning towards the 73" if the room is available, this may be worth checking out, they are <$1800 now at some sites (tigerdirect and 6ave), so the big question I haven't been able to determine is what type of premium will the new series 737 carry over the current selling prices of 735/736 series.
The one thing that has me on the fence is the new series has some bells and whistles which may prove to be all hype (or not), but the fact they actually made the cabinet deeper going against the trend, makes me wonder what was so compelling to drive them this direction instead of the market demand for thinner, so fingers crossed, but guess technology always has something a little bit better around the corner.
The newer model is made deeper to address some of the geometry problems some people had with the shallower cabinet.
The newer models that are 73 inch and less are basically the same as last years. The only difference seems to be a tweaking of the software...improving the video processing section. Most people have these shut down anyways.
The only big change is an all new dlp, the 82 incher. There is not much detail released on these; they may even be an entirely different animal than their smaller siblings.

??? where are you getting your info? according to service manual the cabinet is the exact same size.

again...source please.
reviewing the schematics shows significant if not an entirely new design from previous year.
The newer models cabinets are 2niches deeper. My wd73835 is roughly 17 inches deep, the newer ones are around 19 inches.
Last year was a complete redesign around the TI dark 4 chip. Highly doubtful for a mfg to scrap everything and start from scratch, especially since they were thinking about exiting the rp market. No new feature set introduced except for "improved plush 1080, dark deteailer, sharp edge" which would suggest software reconfiguration.

look at the picture in the post above you. the 73835 is 17.5inches thick. the 73737 is ....yup...17.5 inches thick.

software..yes.
hardware...yes
it seems to me that you read some snipets somewhere and decided to just make up a bunch of information.
Mitsubishi web site wd73737 19.9 inches deep. Read the specs.
How did you get the 737 schematics so quickly.
Now, go away please.....

The schematics are available for download for any autherizied repair company.
Based on that info in the manual...it appears that trapperjohn is correct.
And even if it were 2 inches deeper why would you assume it was to resolve geometry issues? Maybe it was due to gaps in the frame or mirrors breaking or something else.
Making guesses is perfectly fine and probably encouraged. Making blank statements without any technical data to back it up is another.

I guess we will have to wait for someone to measure, all I saw was from the Mitsu site, sorry for rampant speculation
