I decided to start this small thread to see if the current "freezing" issues that are showing up with Samsung 2500/2550 Blu-Ray players is due to a new firmware release(2.5), or is it a Netflix problem, that all people may have been experiencing?

Hence the reason why I posted the thread for people with any of the above makes/models that allow Netflix streaming to their TV via wired, or wireless internet.

If you venture into the Samsung 2500/2550 thread, you will notice that people began to have problems with the stream "freezing" towards the end of their particular movie/tv show.

My "freeze" occured on Thursday 4/16/09 at around 5:30pm while watching an episode of Star Trek Season 1.

It just so happens that Samsung released a new firmware upgrade either that day, or a few days before, changing the latest firmware from 2.4 to 2.5 on the Samsung 2500/2550 model. People who really began to notice the freezing issue, said they had upgraded to 2.5, and the freezing issues seem to begin after that. Samsung even removed the 2.5 upgrade from their website a couple of days after it was posted their because they were probably bombarded with phone calls/e-mails from people who began to have freezing issues, and thought 2.5 was the culprit.

My problem was I NEVER(and I won't) upgraded to 2.5. I still have 2.4, but my issues began at the same time as everyone else begging me to question if this is indeed a Samsung firmware issue problem, or a problem that other Netflix streamers, regardless of model/make, had experienced since Thursday afternoon.

Anyone just chime in with the make/model of whatever Netflix streaming device you may have, and if you have noticed anything wrong/unusual since Thursday 4/16/09.

Just like to get an idea if anyone experienced anything like us Samsung 2500/2550 users have over the last few days.

I should also ask XB360 owners who use Netflix, there opinion as well.

For reference, I have an LG BD370 player and I have watched a few Netflix movies and a few Mythbuster episodes and 1 History channel episode and have yet to have any issues with Netflix(although I do occasionally have a stuttery display requiring a router reboot, but it's most likely my router as the reboot cures the issue). No lockups at all.

I have a 360 and use Netflix streaming quite a bit, and have not noticed any stuttering issues.

My dad has a roku and overall its been great, now he has only had it for 2 weeks so about 20 movies maybe.
I would say its Samsung who has never been known for their caring for their customers. Ask some people about last year with the TV upgrades.

He did find one movie that the audio and video go out of sink about 10 minutes into the play.
ITS BAD audio is about 20 seconds in front of the video. Is this an encoding problem on their end? that is what I am guessing.

It is on there end, not any of the players fault.

I had a documentary where the same thing occured during one of my streaming sessions from Netflix.

It has happpened once, and only once, on that particular documentary.

I think it was the PBS documentary "Empire of the Airwaves" about radio.

Yes, its a bad encode I'm sure... I've experienced it a couple of times. Probably the same movie you're taking about. Can't even remember which two movies they were now.

Nope, no problems here with the Roku freezing up.
