Hmmm, possible buy, maybe for the right price...I loved the earlier parts of this movie, like the cavemen, the worlds "first artist and critic" (pissing on the art, lol), ancient Rome with the late, great Gregory Hines doing his thing ("the jig is up - and gone!") etc, but I dunno, they lose me not long after that....decent flick, own the dvd, might replace it if it looks great and the price is cheap.

Don't forget Harvey Korman calling over the piss boy so he could take a wizz in that urn. :D

joemama127 04-20-09, 05:23 PM Don't forget Harvey Korman calling over the piss boy so he could take a wizz in that urn. :DOne of my college buddies got the "piss boy" nickname because he bragged about using gatorade bottles for a non-stop 6 hour drive.:p I'll be picking this one up when it hits the US..
The BR should look phenomenal. I watched my DVD for the first time a few months ago and was completely blown away by the clarity and detail of that disc - one of the best catalog presentations I've ever seen.
williamtassone 06-27-09, 12:50 PM Agreed: one of the best catalogue titles to hit DVD
Here is a review (via babelfish) of the Blu ray version
" The picture lies in an opinion relationship of 2.35:1 (16: 9 Full hp) forwards and in AVC/MPEG4 one coded. The sharpness is outstanding for a film of this age and shows many details, which went down on past DVD transfers. The contrast is moderate. The Schwarzwert (black level?) is unfortunately ailing to altogether somewhat to washed working picture. But however no details go leaving lost and the spectator all worth seeing one to recognize sharply in the few dark display spaces. The master works size part cleanly and clearly, only rarely steps tears and black marks up however never so much the over hand takes that they disturb. Isolated the colors work however somewhat too palely and thus liveless - for a film of this age the few scenes coined/shaped of it are however painable, and cloud the general impression only minimum. The film grain arises to only rarely superficial and keeps themselves most time dezent in the background. The compression works perfectly: Neither artifacts nor mosaic formation were to be recognized and also the color noise of many older films are hardly present. Sony succeeded here considering the film age a very good picture transfer, which cannot measure with newer productions, but in the comparison to the DVD version a tidy increase in value offers. "

well its very good transfer : grain was left in , black levels are pretty good and detail is good to excellent . No objectional halo's at 50"
Its on a par with titles such as The Professionals and The Sand Pebbles.
A very good effort from Fox
