I recently posted this over under the projector forum, but realized its probably better off over here.
To preface, I just got a new PJ, a Pioneer FPJ1, which is really a JVC RS2, I had previously been using a CRT with an hdmi card in it and a 35' Mono HDMI cable and had no problems running through my Mono switcher and out of all my components...Then I switched PJ's and the nightmare began...:(

As some have said previously, this PJ(at least my FPJ1) is really fussy about HDMI. I was having serious and weird issues but finally solved them, and thought I would post about it in case others are having the same issues...

It was really hard to track down, but to recap, originally I was getting picture from my Directv HD box, and my HD-DVD box THROUGH my 4x1 hdmi monoprice switcher, with no problems. The issue was with the NON1080P signal from my PS3, through my switcher. A BR movie would sync up, but without ever seeing a menu, and no SD movies would sync at all?? just weird... If I eliminated the switcher and went direct PS3 to FPJ1 no problems...I tried changing the settings on the ps3(ie. no 24hz, only 720,480 etc) to no avail... SO I got a new switcher...

Now, using same cable that worked before to PJ it would "freak out" the switcher? all the lights would blink, no signal, just crazy. So I unplugged the cable at the PJ and moved from input HDMI1 to HDMI 2 and it suddenly worked, I could see the PS3 menu, Except now it would sync for 5 seconds, then off for 5, on for 5, off... SO then I yanked the ps3 from the rack, and put it on the chair by the PJ and ran a short HDMI to the PJ to see if the length(35ft) was the problem, still freaky on HDMI1 but perfect on HDMI2, perfect sync through the switcher, unless it was on input 1 or 3, No sync...inputs 2 & 4 sync perfectly! WTH!!!

So then I brought back the ps3 to the rack and hooked the long HDMI cable back up and kept the same shorter cable I had used to hook up the PS3 to the #2 input on the switcher...Perfect. So then I go to reconnect my $15, 3' HDMI from the switcher to the ps3...No go, no sync...switch to my $2, 3' HDMI...perfect. Its been over two weeks and no problems...:D

Long story short, in the end, I had to switch from a previously working input on the PJ, use a specific input on the switcher, and abandon a more expensive HDMI in favor of a cheap amazon special for it to work.

I HATE HDMI...

So if your having trouble, don't give up, just keep trying everything you can think of and more...
