I had a home theater company install a system about 8 years ago that included a TView Quadscan Elite as a hub/upscaler for the various video sources. The install company is long gone. Yesterday the Quadscan unit conked out (doesn't turn on and there is an acrid smell of burnt electronics). It was always a *very* hot running device so I'm kind of surprised it lasted this long :)
Anyway, I'm looking to replace the unit with a comparable product that will work with my setup since the TView line is discontinued. I'm using 2 component video inputs (YPbPr) and 1 S-Video (SVHS) input. My TV is connected to the 15-pin output port labeled "Hi-Res Out". The TView's users manual claims this is an RGBH/V output port.
Wiring is run in the walls so I'd really like to avoid rewiring. My Plasma TV is 1st generation and has limited inputs as well. Are there any currently available products which would serve as a replacement to the TView Quadscan and support the same input and output cables I'm currently using? My searches of the forums didn't yield anything that helped me compare the TView to modern products and I'm not knowledgable enough on the terms/acronyms to tell on my own.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

Check out a DVDO (http://www.anchorbaytech.com/products/systems/) VP30 (http://www.anchorbaytech.com/products/systems/vp30.php) w/ ABT102 card or VP50 (http://www.anchorbaytech.com/products/systems/vp50.php). Both units output analog video via BNC connectors, but BNC-to-RGB 15-pin cables are less than $10 (http://www.monoprice.com/products/search.asp?keyword=bnc+to+rgb). The VP50 can handle HD 1080 de-interlacing for future upgradability. Not only will both units provide switching, but they are excellent video processors that will improve your picture quaility at the same time.
I would suggest contacting forum sponsor AV Science, as they have offered excellent specials in the past on new (and refurbished) units.
Alternatively, several manufacturers sell component video switches and some have s-video inputs. Even though many of these units are MSRP <$100, they output component video. Example unit (http://www.svideo.com/com3.html). (I have not used this so I cannot reccomend.) As with BNC-to-RGB, component-to-RGB 15-pin cables are very inexpensive. BUT these inexpensive units are only switches...there is no scaling or de-interlacing involved.
Thank you bluechunks. I called the makers of the DVDO items. Turns out the VP30 was recently discontinued and have some leftover stock for $499/ea complete with full warranty (1yr) and 30 day money back guarantee. While the VP50 certainly seems more advanced, I don't think my application will justify the extra $1200 expense.
I ordered the VP30 and one of the 5-BNC to 15 pin cables per your suggestion. Again, thank you for pointing me in this direction!

You are welcome; glad that worked out.
Did DVDO include the ABT102 daughter card (http://www.anchorbaytech.com/products/systems/addons/precision_deinterlacing_card.php) with your VP30? If not, you may wish to consider one for best de-interlacing performance. I suspect that you can find one these for a pretty good price as well. ;)
Cheers!
