I just recieved my new svs pb-10 and golly are you guys correct. This thing hits lower and louder than anything near its price range from a brick and morter store. Today I ran through some music and thought that it sounded good. Tighter than my stolen Velodyne dsp-10(sp?). I imagine it will get better, but I then watched Transformers with my G/F and her mouth was wide open when she heard/"felt" the helicopter in the desert. The fun part about her having her mouth wide open was the week before she threatened to break up after I told her the price for the pb-10. My response is classic male, "wait and see and then you'll be surprised." Well sure enough her mouth was wide open, and it continued to stay open for the entire military base attack. I asked "why is your mouth open?" her reply "I don't remember this scene," I then said "you just dont remember feeling it this way," to which she replied "It(being the sub) really is worth it". That alone put a smile on my face along with the performance of this sub. Now on to the LOTR Trilogy. Another thing, I have no need for any more bass than this sub can dish out. Right now I have it dialed in at 9 O'clock. You guys getting the Ultras are nuts, but I can only imagine over time that I will soon see it through your eyes and upgrade. I want to thank SVS and all of you posters who helped me out in my stolem sub mess I used to be in. :D <---that will stay for a while.

Great story. When a sub can win over the GF, you know it's something special :)

There are just so many ways to respond to the original post, but they would just get me banned.:)

Good to hear you like your sub. Sometimes people get too anxious and then feel let down when the new sub won't hit 280dB with the voice of an angel and actually move the house foundation.

I give you six months or a new girlfriend and you will be upgrading.

RedRaiderTTU,

Great story & great gal you have there. It's a wonderful feeling when your significant other approves of financial expenditures to the betterment of audio excellence.

... But I'm left wondering, with the conspiracy-theory side of me, if this whole ordeal you went through (I read your other threads)... was a plan hatched by YOUR girlfriend to have your Velodyne DSP-10 subwoofer "mysteriously" stolen in the carefully orchestrated plan that you would end up getting the exact subwoofer *SHE* wanted... the SVS PB-10.

She played YOU!

Just kidding... Or am I? ;)

:D:D:D

Cheers,
Kermee

Not to be a downer here...but...she'll never forgive you. No matter how much she likes it now, she'll remember that you just had to get that speaker over "HER" objections. It will remain just another of her long list of grievances that she'll never forget and always bring up when she goes on a rant. Sure, you can tune it out or get a new gf, but it ain't going to go away :D.

Other than than that piece of brightness I just offered...Congrats on your new sub. Now turn it up and let her rip.

But at least you'll have a cool sub.:)

But at least you'll have a cool sub.:)The voice of experience. I was with my first wife for 23 years and my second going on 14. I know categorically ever time I offended either of them. Luckily, my brain can't process this anymore. With age come immunity :D.

66 years of marriage between us and we still can't get it right.;) At least we have cool subs.

As I've said before, if you turn it up loud enough, you can't hear the wife yell 'TURN IT DOWN'.

I've only been married for 8 years but we definitely know how to push each other's buttons. My wife doesn't yell anymore. She turns the light on and off until I turn it down. She knows it really pisses me off! :D
