I'm very curious if the new Samsung plasma's could handle mkv files. Here's a couple question for B650 or B850 owners.
1) How does it handle 1080p videos? The reason why I ask is because my laptop has problems playing 1080p streams which causes jerky playback, and the audio and video are not syncing.
2) Can it read NTFS?
Thanks,
Nick

send me an mkv file and i'll test it on my b560.
nvm, i guess my 560 can only do mp3 audio, and jpeg picture files.

all my mkv files are 4.5gb-12gb :D
does your 560 read the usb device if it's formated as ntfs?

i just looked in the manual and it says it accepts jpeg and mp3 only. i'll never use the usb on the TV ever anyway. i have a PS3 for all that stuff.

PS3 supports fat32 and not ntfs, so I am not able to load files larger than 2gb on my usb hard drive. And they don't have playback for mkv files :(
You can stream MKV files from your PS3 using PS3 Media Server:
http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/
Actually, it transcodes the MKV file so it's not really playing an MKV. But, the good thing is, since it's transcoded, it's not limited to any 4GB file size limit.
This works great for playing MKVs from my MacPro to my PS3 to my plasma TV.

or if you have wireless and streaming is a problem, you can re mux the mkv files to AVCHD USB, which splits the movies into FAT32 compliant parts, but has continuous play, like a dvd.
ive made many AVCHD USB, and to me its better than streaming, mainly because it supoprts all the HD audio codecs, if you have MKVs in that format, anbd it also supports 24p playback of 1080p mkvs converted this way.
in short, 24p and HD audio, AVCHD USB
simple playback of movies easily, ps3mediaserver
both work perfect
Can someone verify this. The 2009 plasmas are supposed to have Media 2.0, but the list of codecs supported in the manual is different to that in the LCDs
