Amazon (vod) Pictures (http://www.**************.com/showthread.php?p=28462#post28462)How does this work? Do you rent a video at Amazon then it becomes available through VieraCast and is accessed via software on the TV?

Nope. You can search for the movie your looking for, rent it, then it streams through your TV. Kinda like Netflix streaming.

I didn't play with it, but I hope to GOD it's not 10.99! That is outrageous!

I got this info from the Official 850U thread.

HD TV Shows are also available. Most newer '24 hour' HD rentals are $4.99 like 'Yes Man'. 'Mutant Chronicles (Pre-Theatrical Rental) HD' is a '3 day' HD rental for $10.99. Not sure why it is 3 day.

Hey BLT, Try going into a movie and clicking the "Preview first 2 minutes for free", button.
Will it allow this on the Panasonic?

It allows me to do this on my Roku box:

ROKU and AMAZON HD (http://www.**************.com/showthread.php?t=1357)

PQ is actually decent!

I recommend trying Dark knight since the movie starts without a bunch of credits like most movies.
With most movies, you will be watching credits for the first 2 minutes.

It's 3 day so they can try to gig you for 10.99.:)

To be totally honest, I think most would be better off using thier PS3 to download the movie from the PS3 Store.
PQ will be better.
Sure, Amazon streaming will not require downloading, but will macroblock like netflix HD streaming.
Is amazon streaming 1080p or 720??

That's a good question. I guess Amazon is trying to gain market share in this industry as well.

I'm not a big fan of the PS3 store. I haven't really liked their selection and everytime I try to get a movie (no matter what credit card I try to use), it won't let me!!! I've pretty much given up!

that's over double the price of HD movie rental on Apple TV from the iTunes store  ... it's $4.99 for a new HD release and $3.99 for an older title...

Is that for a 3 day rental on Itunes? I thought they were only 24 hour rentals?

On Amazon it looks like all new releases are $4.99 for 24 hours, Older HD is $3.99. I haven't seen too many of those 3 day $10.99 rentals

actually the way it works w/ the itunes store is that the rental lasts for a month, but once you start watching it expires in 24 hours (although it will let you finish the movie, it won't cut you off if the 24 hour limit expires mid-movie.... so theoretically you can extend it a bit by starting the movie just before the deadline and hitting pause...)

Does anyone that has tried the Amazon HD VOD with VieraCast (especially with the g10 series TVs) know what the audio options are? Is surround sound an option via digital audio out, or is it limited to stereo?

If it has surround sound, the rental prices (which are about the same as Hollywood Video or Blockbuster for SD DVD) would be decent for an HD rental w/surround sound.

Thanks..
