Client had niche recessed for elite signature 60". Client had second thoughts when pio announced end to plasma business. We decided to save some money and go with krp600m instead. Now after reading about all the krp600 damage and other issues, we are having second thoughts again. Plus krp's are backordered.
He is considering samsung pn58a850. The niche is big enough to fit a pn63b550. Room has a lot of windows.
Thoughts?
Thanks

I wouldn't not get a Pio Elite because they are getting out of the TV buisness. Odds are that by the time anything went wrong with the TV there would be something significantly better out at a lower price.
Assuming anything ever even went wrong. TVs have been the most reliable pieces of electronics I've ever owned.
If the room is very sunny with lots of windows the Elite would be preferred vs KRP due to the ISF modes which offer significantly higher brightness levels.
I would probably go with a Panny if you didn't want a Pio though, they seem to be the next best choice.

I had never heard of these problems with any of the Pioneers. Even though Pioneer is getting out of plasma manufacture, they should be continuing to service these products, and the quality of their service is first class. And you might be able to find a fabuluos discount right now. Otherwise, I would agree to get the Panasonic.

You a not going to be getting a discount on one of the Kuros, just because Pio's getting out of the TV business. TV fanatics are snapping up what's left, before they're gone.

Why not get the the bigger 63b550 then! These new Samsungs are especially nice.
"Especially nice" as in really close to the kuro quality or even better? I think 63" the way to go but I haven't seen the samsung B models.
Why does the 63 only come in a 550 flavor, when the 58s come in 550, 650, 750, and 850s? Is there a picture quality difference in those numbers?
Thanks
Randy

Well, it is my contention that the Sammies offer a better overall picture than the kuros, period. I have felt that way for a few years. The colors are more lifelike and the details are better to name a few things. The kuros are nice too but they would be my 2nd choice.
I have seen a few B models and they are especially nice. I haven't seen the 63B550 though but I suspect they will be at least as good as other B models.
These are still new models and I haven't seen comparative reviews yet.

That is debatable, but most pro calibrators and videophiles prefer the Kuros. Your best bet is to look at both and decide for yourself.
