Hi all,
I’m a two-week owner of the incredible 111FD and truly blown away by the picture and build quality. The TV is certainly all business!

I had a Comcast cable box issue with the left-side "tearing" effect and green right-side vertical bar issue resolved via a newer HDMI box but I've noticed while watching HD and BD programming what seems to be, while very subtle, a lighter vertical strip on the far left hand side of the panel appear when the screen shows very dark or near-black images. It extends all the way down the screen – maybe 0.25 of an inch wide.

I watched The Dark Knight on BD last night in a completely darkened room and it does seem to be slightly present. I turned the TV off, flipped on all the lights and noticed that very far left side of the panel seems to have a lighter gradient pixel strip than the rest of the screen. This am, I thought I noticed it again (lighter pixel gradient) in bright sunny conditions while the TV was off. Perhaps completely reflections and OCD, I will try to take some pictures tonight and during the day. I’m curious if anyone else has noticed or experienced this strange anomaly - it is very subtle and I don’t know if it warrants the hassle of a service call.

I haven't used the break-in dvd yet and plan to do so.

Thanks,
Adam

Your probably not getting the content to fill the entire screen. The lighter gradient is probably image retention from that. Throw up any non dark content and get very close to the area and see if the video is reaching the bezel.

Looks like IR. Plasmas are particularly susceptible to this when new.
It should be ok within a week. Just do provide as much full screen viewing as possible.

Thanks guys - strange as I've ran everything in 16:9 auto, pure mode, on HD stations and Blueray. Will put in the break-in dvd and see if it changes. Will also try to upload some photos.

Im getting that on my 600m. Its not IR. It was noticeable as soon as i turned on my tv. Just shades lighter or darker all over the screen. Most noticable on bright scenes.

My samsung 5054 had a bright spot on the top left corner about 1.5x1.5 inch that I tried to ignore. I called for service on the 6th month and was told that it was with in spec so I said ok maybe its just me. I called back before the warranty expired and sent samsung pictures of the defect and when I open the door the tech came with a new panel.

I'm so glad that I called back since the new panel is perfectly uniform. If I were you I'd call for service especially for the price you paid for it.
