My son loves playing Rock Band. He loves Legos. Both together in a more kid friendly package is a great combination.

The character customization should be awesome. ;)

One can only hope for a spin-off movie: Lego Spinal Tap.

a xbox.com derscription lists rock challenges that include defeating a giant robot, sommoning a storm and destrying a skyscraper with the power of "rock" the description also states that you'll be able to build "cooler vehicles" and dress up a rock hang out with your rewards for beating challenges.

My sons pants will be going crazy when he finds out about this. He's 3 by the way and loves Rock Band. And he's hooked on Legos. It's a perfect fit. Can't wait to get this one home!

I can't wait to get this one, too. You know, in case Chris Rein and his son come over, or something. :D

Why? Because companies strive to release products that will make them a profit?

Eh, I have Lego Star Wars saga, Indy, and Batman. I'll pass on this one. Wake me if they ever make Lego Lord of the Rings....

Lego Lord of the rings would work so well with the lego theme too. If they made that game, I would be in heaven :p for a solid 2-4 months of finding EVERYTHING in that game.

I hope they make a original Lego game based on their existing sets like Mars Mission, Lego Knights or Agents. LOTR would be cool too.

they did one for the bionicle series, it used the same engine but was from a behind the back view.

Yep. Loads of characters, GREAT source material, the epic music, I figured this would be a no brainer. Guess it's about who holds the licenses, but I hope something could be worked. These lego games are popular now, wise to strike while the iron is hot. I'd like a Lego Matrix game also.

Lego Harry Potter is an option since WB is involved on both sides.
But EA still has the LoTR gaming license, right?
Other (beat the horse dead) possibilities, Lego Star Trek, Lego Terminator and Lego Friday the 13th. :D

EA still has the Rock Band license and they teamed up to publish this game with WB.

I'm really enjoying it. There are ten rock challenges throughout the game and a cinematic plays before every one and so far it's batting about .500 for funny. The Ghostbusters challenge is worth the price of admission alone. Some people are mad about no online and the DLC filter is pretty strict (only 197 of my 400+ DLC show up) but I'm more upset about no online leaderboards. I like having a big total to chase after. The game is 43.99 on Amazon right now and really worth every penny.

I'm confused about DLC support for Lego Rock Band.

Do I understand this correctly: Rock Band 1 and 2 DLC are available (or are supposed to be available) in Lego, and all Lego songs are available in Rock Band 1/2 with the $10 code purchase. The Lego songs appear as a single file on the hard drive, so no deleting individual songs.

Is that correct? Also, Tom - any theory as to why more than half your DLC don't appear in Lego?

Last question(s) - does the Lego quickplay menu show highest score/star achieved (like Beatles), and will this score/star ranking carry over to other games? I'm guessing no on the last one, but it would be nice.

Only the family-friendly DLC from RB1/RB2 shows up in Lego. And the star difficulty ratings actually get increased on a lot of DLC in LRB.

ah... ok, good to know - thanks.

Interesting that the difficulty scale is tied to the game and not the DLC file.

It also works the other way around. Fire by Jimi Hendrix is all devil signs in Lego Rock Band but only tier 4 in Rock Band 2.

All DLC now has a rating of either E10 or T that Lego Rock Band can see. T songs will not appear in Lego Rock Band. Past songs are grandfathered in from a list in the game (such as 22 from Rock Band 1.)

The song select screen shows your highest score and then it will change to your stars. It's good to see gold stars again. This does not carry over to Rock Band 2.

There are so many more easy songs in here that I'm getting more SRFC or Gold Stars that I feel like it's Beatles all over, but that's not really a complaint (except for Ride a White Swan. WTF.)

Apparently Lego Harry Potter has already been announced (Years 1-4). Gamestop/EB have a tentative release date of 3/1/10.

No interest in HP, but after Batman, I was hoping for a Lego DC or Lego Marvel game incorporating a lot more superheroes.

I'll probably hold off on Lego Rock Band until it's $20, which will probably be sometime in January or so.

I like the idea of Lego Rock Band and Band Hero. but I'm not that excited about Lego Rock Band. more old songs. some great old songs, but not enough of the ones I actually like. I wax nostalgia for stuff like ghostbusters but I can't stand listening to it for me than 15 seconds anymore.

and if i hear kung fu fighting any more, i'll vomit. it was never great to begin with but some how people like it.

it's funny how none of my younger relatives even recognize a big chunk of the songs for GH1 to GH5 or RB1 or RB2 because the songs were before their time, but play them because the game is fun. but they have zero connection to the music.

i'll wait for it to hit $20 like rock band 2 did.

i wanna pull the trigger for band hero but i just wish it was cheaper. it has much more contemporary songs.

I love the game. In addition to the somewhat fresh interface/experience, the star tracking is great and would be a great feature for RB2 although it won't happen.

We were thinking of getting Rock Band 2 for the kids (4 & 6) this christmas, but I think it is still a little hard for them. Then I saw Lego Rock Band with the super easy mode and thought that would be perfect. But there doesn't seem to be a bundle for the instruments, so I guess I would have to buy the RB2 bundle and the LRB game as well. Buying it this way is probably only $20 higher than a bundle would be anyways and they get a lot more songs. I think they should have went all the way and put out Lego themed instruments...

too much of a risk, the bundles take up a lot of merchandising space as is. HMX already has Beatles rock band as it's top product for the holidays. I think it's more likely to get someone to buy a 200 dollar bundle for teh beatles than for lego rock band.

You could pick up the $99 RB2 SE bundle and then pick up Lego RB. Still comes out alot less than the Beatles bundle with the latest set of instruments.

And if you still want Beatles RB, then you can just get disc-only.

Or if you want Beatles RB and Lego RB but not RB2, there's this edition that includes the standard RB instruments (which I believe are functionally 100% the same):
