Needs
I am currently stationed overseas in Germany and I am looking for the best 50 inch or larger LCD or Plasma Flat Panel.

Primary use will be watching movies blu-ray and playing a PS3.
I have shutters in the TV room I can close to block out light.

I've looked at Flat Panels on the Germany Economy, but they cannot guarantee NTSC compatibility for when I return to the states. Also, if purchased online most companies won't ship overseas, especially 50in or larger.

My AAFES Exchange Choices:

PLASMAS

Panasonic TH-50PV80MS

PIONEER PDP-LX508G (CNET ASIA REVIEW 8.6)

LCDS

TOSHIBA 52Z3500T

JVC LT-52GZ79 -It's their slim version 1080p I think, but can't find a website.

Sony Bravia KLV46V400A - I really want a 50in, but I may settle for this one if it's that much better.

My main use is movies and PS3 play.

Please help and let me know your recommendation.

well the panasonic PV80 is a HD ready plasma not a FHD but at 50inches u can notice the difference b/w HD and FHD quite easily, and since u are going to game i suggest u go for the KLV46V400A or the newer model like V5500/V550A if u can get it with in ur budget alternately tvs like samsung B550 would also be good.

I would go with the Pioneer PDP-LX508G. It will give you a good picture. Also I would see if you can get the samsung Luxia Led Lcd tv it would be my option for lcd. But either model I mentioned would work for you but since you said you can dim the lights a Plasma will work just fine for you.
