I just had Dish installed last weekend after finally getting fed up with Comcast. The DVR on my HD Comcast box was very simple to use. I'm having issues getting adjusted to the Dish 722. For instance, on the Comcast DVR, I was able to record 2 shows at the same time and then go back and forth between these shows. It doesn't seem to work that way with Dish. I had two things recording on Dish at the same time but if I wanted to view the other show that was being recorded, a message came up saying I could not go there unless I stopped recording what I was originally watching. Is that the case with Dish or am I just missing something? I think I get confused on how to actually set things up since I have TV1 and TV2. For instance, tonight I wanted to record shows at 8PM, 9PM and 10PM.. how do I do that? Do I set everything to record to TV2 and then I can watch whatever I want on TV1? If I'm recording something on TV2 and my wife wants to watch something different on TV2 (other than what is being recorded), she can't. Is that correct? I've read the manual that comes with the 722.. but I think I'm still missing something.
Would love to hear from you!
Thanks!

There is a SWAP button on your remote. Use this button to go back and forth.

Thanks! I'll check it out. That solves one issue... what about the rest?

There is a SWAP button on your remote. Use this button to go back and forth.
The SWAP button only works when the DVR is in single-TV mode. He's running in dual-TV mode. Perhaps you can highlight the recording in progress in the list and click View or Start Over.
You're correct that if things are recording on tuner 2, then whoever has that TV will have to watch that show, or a prerecorded show.
The 722 is really a much better DVR when you run it in single mode. Then you can use the SWAP button as well as the picture-in-picture features. Of course, you'd need a 2nd receiver or DVR for the other TV (maybe a ViP 612 would be good in this case?).

Yeah.. I was thinking about that. The thing is, the 2nd TV in the bed room is a Sony LCD on the wall. There's no shelf or anything to put the receiver on. What do people normally do in this situation? I don't think Dish would charge any extra for putting another receiver in.. but I'm not positive. Here's another option that I thought of... but don't think it would work either. I have a 211 HD receiver in the basement that I could possible put upstairs.. but I still have to figure out what to do since I have no shelf and then if I run the coax to the basement.. I have problems there as well as it's my Home Theater and I'm using a Front Projector and a DVDO iScan box.. don't think I can run coax to the DVDO. Any other options there??
Thanks

If you put the receiver into single mode, you could run another HD line (component or HDMI, which ever you're not using in the living room), and the two sets will be in HD but they'll mirror each other. If you don't ever watch separate programming on the two sets at the same time, that would work.
Coax isn't giving you an HD picture, by the way, so you're sort of wasting the LCD on the wall.

So what would be my options if I take the 211 receiver from the basement and put it somewhere in the bedroom? I don't want to put a shelf or anything on the wall where the TV is. What do people do in that situation? I agree, it would be nice to have HD in the bedroom as my wife is watching more TV there than we do in the basement.
The installer is supposed to come back out.. but I'm not sure what will be done.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
