I have recently been looking to get a kegerator for my apartment and wondered if anyone has any recommendations? After doing some research I've noticed that a fair amount of people have had cooling issues with Haier, Edgestar and other cheaper priced options. I'm looking into possibly getting the Sanyo BC-1206-2 or the Summit SBC4907TWIN. As you can tell if you are familiar with these models I'm trying to get a dual tap system as small as possible. I'm looking to keep the price under a $1000 if possible. All suggestions are welcome and thanks!

Take a look at Bev-Air. I hear they are pretty good units. I'm not certain of the costs.

Thanks for the reply and nice looking bar you have (even though I can't see a Broncos helmet I'm sure its there :D). I saw from your pictures that you have a Kenmore kegerator. How do you like it? Store bought or did you get a conversion kit? I've looked into getting a Bevair and have heard good things also but they are more than I want to spend. Perhaps I'll try looking on craigslist for a used one.

The Kenmore has worked flawlessly. I can't complain. I think it's been in use for 10 years or so now. I have been looking at the dual Bev-Air units. It's a pipe dream for now. Good luck on your search.

I have a summit and no problems. Only thing is I have trouble keeping the beer in the keg;)

Here is the text I posted in another similar thread.

Whether its electronic darts, arcade video, pinball or beer keg coolers - ALWAYS go commercial - built to last forever!!!

TEXT
I recommend you go to a commercial keg box vendor and buy a two or three keg box which all have plenty of room for fridge items along with full kegs (not "pony" kegs).

We never bought a keg box knowing we would drink way too much brew.

Good friend of ours had a 3 keg sized commercial unit installed in his home game and media room. He always kept 3 full kegs on tap for his favorite dark draft, K.Red and a rotating popular domestic brands.

WOW - always nice to visit this guy's house. These draft boxes can be their own commercially attractive stainless top or they can reside beneath a decorative bar top with holes drilled for the tap handles and etc.

Go with a commercial keg box and then develop a relationship with your local beer distributor so they will make an exception to their normal business practices and deliver kegs to your house. That's what our friend did and it was quite helpful to have the driver use his pro dolly to take those kegs upstairs to his fun room. Plus, those commercial boxes are very well made and will last forever.

Nice bar, commercial keg cooler, commercial pinball and coin-op dart game and you will never run out of fun - or draft beer!!!

As I built my own, I don't know much about some of the setups you are looking at. There is a lot of information on this site, if you have not researched it already.

I have a Kenmore that I bought off E-bay from a tavern that was done using it. It works great - I even attached it to a Johnson Controls temp controller for use when brewing.

It's old and still works great - so I think Kenmore is a good bet. I believe this particular unit was around $800 new.
