Hey guys...

Do you have and tips on how to clean hdmi cables. The sheetrock crew got mud all over/in one of the tips.

Would love any input...

Thanks

Not sure, but perhaps you could douse the tip with alcohol, then blow compressed air into it. Please do this at your own risk as I am just guessing. If someone else has real world experience by all means go with that.

I assume it is sealed into the wall and ordering a new cable is out of the question? Monoprice has them on the rather cheap side.

That's happened on some of my jobs before. It sucks, but using a dental tool and compressed air is probably the safest way to do it. It only took a couple of times before I started specifying 5-BNC breakout cables.

Drywall mud is water based. Just use that. Alcohol and other cleaning agents may harm the plastics.

You may have to let it soak for an hour or two. Don't worry, the water won't hurt the pins.

Next time, cover all the heads of your cables with a plastic baggy taped to the ends of the cables (even on your non-terminated but already labeled cables).

I'm interested in these answers as well. Mine isn't covered in mud, but before I thought to cover it, it did get dusted with...well, drywall dust. I had planned to just blast it with some compressed air, but wasn't sure if it might damage sensitive prongs or whatnot? I'd hate to end up getting 1079p instead of 1080p. :D

Yes...the best solutions are the simplest, aren't they?
