Do you know if they're going to be covers or masters? There were a lot of covers in GH2.

They are all masters. I really want to play free bird. Never did play GH2, but the rest of the tracks so far probably arent enough to suck me into getting this. Hopefully Rock Band will get more Skynard

I'm in. After playing through GH2 and its DLC recently, it will be great to play these master tracks with updated graphics and controllers. Bonus: Psychobilly Freakout can't hold me back from advancing anymore with the more flexible career paths.

It will be interesting to see what tracks make it from GH:80's.

neversoft is recharting all the songs too so it will probably be harder and easier thanks to GH's current timing window.

"Anytime" finger-tapping for H0/P0 notes is a plus that makes the solos a little more manageable for mortals. With RB, the "tap only" notes are restricted to solos and the solo buttons and it's a lot harder to keep the streak going.

Yes, I like easier, but not less complicated.:)

the solo buttons only help if you can tap the bnotes correctly in RB since taping when there is no note counts as a missed strum.
your prefrence is fine but tap anytime along with that wide open window just makes teh audiop even less connected to what i'm doing. If I can't beat a song on expert I just play on hard, it's usually as fun as any expert chart. I'm just saying practicing on the full GH2 game won't prepare youf or whatever is going to be on the smash hits collection.

Logical... I always hit the buttons at the right time.:D

What I like about it, is that you don't have to keep that string going from the initial strum, unbroken, to be able to tap notes. If you miss a note, you can still tap the next without strumming to start the note string/ho/po over again.(?) It does open itself up to a little button-mashing, but I still like to "play" in-time with the music. I find that although solos are more manageable at lower levels, the verses are simplified to pretty much strumming on the beat, and I prefer to limp through it on harder difficulties.

I've made it through GH2 on expert before, though 3* most of the final tier and Freebird. Replaying it, the graphics are about as distracting as the cover vocalists. Bring on Smash Hits!:D

I have to admit these are some great songs... I just wish they were coming as DLC in RB instead. (The ones that I don't already have downloaded for RB that is :D ).

I have both GH:WT and RB2, and honestly haven't even put GH:WT in the tray since the first week it came out.

I never had a PS2 to play Guitar Hero so I'm looking forward to playing some of those tracks and for the drum option for the GH2 tracks.

From the start I have never really gotten into GH or RB but I have to say. GH Metallica has me tempted. My cousin's husband pulled it out this past Sunday and I was amazed at the song selection. I didn't play it but I loved listening to the songs again.

Activision can milk them all they want, as long as the songs are fun to play. I was hoping for a release of those 80's tracks however from the PS2 only release.....Balls To The Wall with full UDO vocals anyone? :D

amen, keep the content coming! i don't see why people whine so much, just don't buy what you are not interested in. i guess they don't remember the days of gh2 dlc where we had to wait a month for 3 songs mostly likely covers of something obscure... :|

can't wait for RB: Beatles, RB: Lego, RB: Unplugged, and what ever neversoft comes up with is a bonus. bring it on!

I wish I even remotely liked Guitar Hero World Tour. But honestly, I can't stand it. I would be ALL OVER these songs on Rock Band. As it stands, I'll probably wait until this disc drops to $20 or less before I pick it up.

Nine songs in three packs with tracks from GH1, and My Chemical Romance (?). Maybe an indie pack, or was that GH3?

"RedOctane has just released three Guitar Hero II Track Packs, each one available on Xbox Live Marketplace for 500 Microsoft Points. Track Pack 1 includes "Bark at the Moon," "Hey You" and "Ace of Spades." Track Pack 2 features "Killer Queen," "Take it Off" and "Frankenstein." Track Pack 3 includes Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Higher Ground," "Infected" and "Stellar."

was PJ's Even Flow from GH3 not included on Smash Hits because of Rock Band just recently coming out with the entire Ten album as DLC? I think that was the only song missing from Smash hits, that would have allowed me to get rid of my GH3 copy

to be fair HMX has retooled their own charts when releasing GH1 and 2 songs in rock band but yeah I greatly appreciate their retoolings over anything neversoft will produce. Take me out for instance is quite similar but more fun in RB than it was in GH.

lol and yet so true.
any company with such a firm grip on a unique genre (needing the drums/guitar/mic accessories) would be a fool to "stop milking the cow" to put it one way. as much music as there is out there, that cow is super fat! rock band in all their future iterations, is doing the same. i like both. i'll buy both. maybe not all at once unless i win the lotto, but i have way more fun playing any and all music games that i cant stop to worry about which one is better.

tronn,

One thing about jumping into rb now is that you can avoid some of the DLC purchased in the beginning because we were all so starved for content.:)

Gh.com now is preparing for DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero.
