I haven't found a similiar situation to what I want to do...much to my surprise...

I've got a DirecTV HD21-200 in my living room, I'd like to run a video feed to the LCD tv in the neighboring bedroom. The IR remote works great, even across the whole house.

So is it possible to split the HDMI coming off the directv receiver and run it to both TV's? Simultaneous splitting would be nice, but I suppose a switcher would be ok.

I've seen up to 100' HDMI cables...will they work at that length?

You can get HDMI distribution amplifiers, but they are somewhat pricey. Why not feed one TV with HDMI and the other with component? Both HD outputs are live simultaneously. There are HDMI cables that work to at least 50 feet, and component can definitely work to 100 feet.
