Alright guys, this is whats up.

Im an avid fly fisherman, and Im looking for an HD camera to do some messing around with editting and so forth. I take many many still shots, I own 3 SLRs...but It'd be much cooler to mess around with a camcorder! I don't wanna substitute money for high quality, but Im 20 yr old in college. I'm willing to spend over a grand after the summer's work.

Really what I need is some suggestions, Ive seen some dudes who do videos use Canon HVX? Im quite partial to Canon as theyve been great with my SLRs but hey whatever works!

Also, any recommended reading on whats out there now? And I need a book on the technical aspects of filming as well...

I know its alot and I appreciate it guys, I hope Im not stepping on toes, I know some people get kinda upset when a new guys jumps on a forum and starts asking a bunch of questions (I see it on my fishing forums).

Thanks!:D

fly fishing involves alot of repetitive motion with a thin pole. Are you wanting to capture the method, the bait, or the scenery? High speed motion (and not in direct sunlight) created with a fly pole would not look good in an interlaced mode, and I don't know that any consumer camcorder would do it justice. so you'd likely want to invest in a camera that has a decent progressive mode.

it's the 24p that's hard to deal with, 30p should be fine... maybe this is a job for the 60p sanyo?

do you want to show the technical aspects of fly fishing? or maybe just put videos online? tourist type stuff? dvds? what is destination media?

well guys thank you for the responses thus far!

I would definitely want dvd quality, so some kind of low-end pro maybe? Id like you to see the motions and all.

Thanks!

Well, I'm guessing that the main camcorder requirement for a fishing bum would be that the size of the fish gets bigger every time the video clip is replayed?
