*Searched the main thread but only came up with issues related to DTS playback.
For some strange reason my WDTV has lost the ability to play back audio. I've tested numerous audio and video files to no avail. I had no issues until this point and really am at a loss to explain how this happened. I've tried to remedy the issue by doing the following:
- Performed a software reset (System Reset from GUI) and hardware reset (little button on side of unit)
- Tested audio and video files from numerous USB drives
- Upgraded firmware from released 1.01 to preview 1.02.06
- Numerous ejects and power cycles
Any suggestions?

FIXED!!!
Just an update in case anyone else encounters this problem. I managed to get sound output to return, although the steps I took were somewhat strange. As I mentioned previously, I went so far as to update my WDTV with beta firmware 1.02.06. Doing so had no positive effect on my sound issue. However, I did notice something rather odd in my video settings when I began troubleshooting today. For some reason, my WDTV video output was set to PAL (i'm in the US using an NTSC television.) Even worse, the menu refused to let me change the setting. Switching between HDMI and Composite connections had no effect either.
I decided to continue using my composite connection and perform a software reset of the device. Upon completion, the WDTV properly detected the video settings (Composite NTSC output) and audio returned as well. I promptly ejected the drive, powered down the device, switched over to HDMI, and turned everything back on. Both the video and audio settings remained and audio playback via HDMI had been restored.
Quite an odd way to fix a problem don't you think? Something tells me I could have gotten away with simply switching to composite, resetting the device, and then switching back to HDMI. Hope this proves helpful to others.
