I noticed they are running a huge sale on the discontinued Maestro XL. For $1400, how do you think the performance compares with some of the usual suspects like PB13Ultra, Phoenix, etc...

I also was hoping to get a comparison to the older Maestro from someone who has owned them both.

Thanks

ThanksHaven't heard that sub mentioned for quite a while. I have no experience with it, but for some time, craigsub had it as his reference sub. I don't recall if it was the Maestro or the XL. It was highly rated on his list, but quickly dropped as some of the newer products were released. It is still highly rated, just several subs leap frogged it in the list. I seriously considered this sub, but at the time, it was way over my budget. At $1400 it should be considered a real bargain.

I would think that musically it can hang with the best of them, but for HT it might fail to impress. It's not likely to be able to come close to the deep bass output of subs like the PB13 or the Phoenix. If a sealed sub is what you are looking for, I'd look more toward a more modern HSU ULS-15 for less $$$.

I don't think the XL is supposed to sound any different than the older Maestro.

The sub may surprise you in its ability to handle HT. I was/am still impressed with the titan, the 12 inch smaller sealed sub offering. The 15 inch issupposed to be 4 times louder.
