I just can't get the audio jack on my mic to work properly on the sony cams. It either doesn't go in all the way, or goes in, but audio isn't 100% Happens on the SR11 as well. I was thinking of removing that little mic cover to see if that helps, but don't want to break it for no reason.

My only other option left is a Hot Shoe Boom mic, but I'm not sure what kind I should get for interviews, and how reliable the sound is since I think they have to be continually pointed in the direction of only one person to pic up that sound.

Any help is appreciated so I don't loose audio on another interview..
The Sony Blue-Tooth Wireless mic failed any time another blue tooth was in the area, so that's not an option either.
