hey guys,

We're redoing our family room, and I'm thinking about replacing my SVS cylinder for a more traditional looking sub.

My current sub is a SVS PC+ 25-31 vintage 2003-2003. Sub is in near perfect shape, other than it's age. Very light use over the years.

For the replacement, I'd like to get something that I only have to put a couple hundred $$ into, after the sale of the SVS. Thinking about the SVS SB-12-Plus or maybe the HSU VTF-2. Room is fairly open, with solid floors. Primary use will be movies, with music being a secondary use.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions?

Thanks!
Aaron

If your room is fairly open I'd exclude the SB12. It's a great sealed sub for it's price and small form factor but considering what your coming from and you're also including another ported sub for in your search it won't compare to what you have now or the VTF2 in the low frequency area or total output.

If you're wanting a comparison to the VTF-2 then consider the SVS PB12NSD both of those are excellent choices.

Thanks for the reply Jake. Was just doing some reading and yeah, I don't know if the SB12 would be for me.

I do think I prefer a nice finish, either piano gloss or wood veneer. I wish SVS made something a little bigger than the SB12 but smaller than the PB12-plus. Although I might perfer to stick with SVS, that VTF2 looks like a nice deal.
