I was looking online for a sub cable replacement and was reading in the forums here and was just making sure this is the right cable that's been recommended for subs. the other cable i looked at but i'm sure it's overpriced and will get reamed for mentioning is this one

is it true about 18 gauge being better?

Yep, that's it. You aren't going to get reamed by me for mentioning a Monster Cable, it's your wallet and it does look nice if that matters to you, just don't expect any difference beyond that.

18ga RG6 is thicker than 22ga RG59, I doubt you'll notices any difference for subwoofer duty as it's just passing the un-amped signal but given the prices Monoprice has just go with RG6 then you don't have to wonder about it.

i could be more of an audiophile person with equipment to spare if it wasn't for my $1600 road bike and $4800 double bass 9 piece birch drumset i have. my home theater setup took the back road on getting worked on til recently. i'll replace my five year old hd 52" set in a few years i imagine even though i can't look at it in the same light as i did when i first got it. the new tvs of today are amazing compared to mine. i'm content for now.
