The sound stopped working from hdmi on my elite. Used my PRP to replace from Bestbuy. They only had a couple left with Lego Indie and Panda. I haven't opened it yet and am wondering if I should try to find a Jasper Elite at another Bestbuy and exchange.
I checked online in my area on Bestbuy.com and there were none available. So I am torn between opening it up or waiting a week and taking it to another one in case there me more stock available.
I do have another elite so it isn't like I am doing without.
I couldn't see the voltage but I did see the build date was 10/13/2008.

As far as I know only the Xbox Arcade have the Jasper in them. In my opinion you are missing out on game time by not opening it. There is still no evidence that says the Jasper won't fail like the rest. So either pull it out and start playing it or take it back to the store and get your money back and buy something else you will actually use.

yea, the Jaspers have a smaller chip that uses less power, but with a higher thermal density. Unless they figured out a way to keep the GPU from separating, they're still an unknown.

The red Elites are Jaspers, though.

It's rumored that the new Elite bundle with Halo 3 and Fable 2 will be a Jasper but who knows ...

I did say that I had 2 elites so I am not missing any game time. I was at bestbuy and they said it would be about a week till they get more in. So I guess I will wait about 7 days then crack it open.

As stated...It is only a rumor. Nothing has been confirmed yet. Since you have a spare...You could just wait it out. I wouldn't. It could be months before it is confirmed if at all. Though I hear there are still folks waiting for the 360 with the bluray drive. :p

That is what my PS3 is for:)
I think I will just wait till monday. Will then swap if different or break it open.
