I'm trying to find just a simple fan to help with keeping my equipment from overheating. The main component that I'm worried about is an Onkyo SR-606.

I used to have a Radio Shack fan (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103787&tab=summary) that was switched on by the power connector on my cable box.

Well, I have a TiVo now, so I can't use that anymore. I can plug it into the wall, which works fine. But it is a loud fan.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a small (3-4") and quite 120v fan? Or maybe a fan that I can run off of the USB port on my PS3 right above it?

I don't need anything fancy. It will just sit either behind or above my 606 to simply push the hot air out of the space. I don't have a cabinet, everything is housed basically on shelves. There is only one open side, so I'm really limited with my options; unless I start making holes. Which I don't want to do.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

Here's an old pic of my setup. The 606 is where the cable box/dvd player is and the TiVo is on a shelf on top over that.

I use one of these:

I have bought many other products from this company, was referred to them on another thread of this site. I also have the 606 and it does run hot. The lead on this is kind of short though.

Thanks! Is it as quiet as they say it is? It probably won't work for the 606, but it looks like I can use it where the PS3, Wii and 360 are. It can get hot up there.

I'm going to use PC fans for my 606 BTW. Someone suggested it in another posting. Using a 12v AC adapter...didn't even cross my mind to do that!

You're right, the 606 doesn't have a usb connection. I am actually using that on my laptop, and ended up using this in my entire closet. http://www.coolerguys.com/840556082224.html

I have a separate closet just for all my equipment. I was really tired when I posted that reply, so don't know why I didn't show you what else I was using.
It has a thermostat, so it kicks off and on only when it needs to. I also purchased some splitters, two additional fans, and some longer wiring, and put an additional fan on top of my 606, and the second additional fan beind the ps3. I keep the xbox out of the closet as I travel with it from time to time and didn't want to custom build it in to my closet. If you're interested, I can send show you some pics and the parts list for the additional fans, splitters, longer wires, etc.

The fans are super quiet, I can barely hear them at all.

I think what I'm actually going to do is setup two PC fans connected to a switch, that way I can turn them on and off. I'm using one that way with the 606 now and it's working great! I decided not to go with the USB fan for the PS3 because I leave it on all the time and don't like the idea of using a USB fan 24x7 for some reason.
