View Full Version : Free movie cash with the DaVinci Code blu-ray
Just a quick heads up to everyone - the new Blu-Ray release of the DaVinci code comes with free movie cash coupon to go see the new Angels & Demons movie - but the coupon is NOT a physical printed one - the cellophane wrapping on the Blu-Ray case has a small round sticker, and on the BACK of that sticker, visible through the cellophane once it is unwrapped, is a code that you need to use. You must then use the BD Live feature of your Blu-ray player to access getting the coupon! Talk about a pain in the ass!!!
I believe that after you access it via BD Live they'll either mail it to you or maybe you get it emailed to you. I'll find out the final details tonight.
Keep the cash...better yet, keep the blu ray. If the new one is as dreadful as the first one, heaven help us!!!!
Deviation 04-28-09, 06:01 PM You have to use BD Live to get it? What garbage. I don't mind going online to get movie cash but it's not like my Blu-ray player is hooked up to a keyboard and a printer. Bleah.
ccotenj 04-28-09, 06:05 PM well, it's not difficult to understand why they are doing it that way...
but i'd agree, it's a pita...
Got mine today. Didnt expect to have this but it did. If you dont have BD-Live, you can mail it in.
Awesome. Every dollar counts these days! :)
Malcolm_B 04-28-09, 06:56 PM Still a bunch of BS in hopes of getting people to actually utilize the otherwise waste that is BD Live!

For sure, I dont get why people bitch about things that are free like this. Its not like they had to even include something like this. Think about it, the people buying this movie are going to see Angels and Demons regardless if they get free movie cash or not.

Took me 30 min to figure out that I had BD Live disabled in the system settings after trying two cables, etc. Realized it was "off" when I could still do a network upgrade but BD Live was not working.
Once I got my firmware updated (just a side benefit since I was there anyway) I was able to run the BD Live connection and very painfully enter the access code and my email address in their horrid interface using the remote.
I was emailed a link good only for 72 hours to the PDF file which will print my ticket.
WHAT A PITA!!!!! Columbia Pictures -- you suck!!!!

And by the time they mail you a voucher, the movie will be out of theaters.
GizmoDVD 04-28-09, 10:53 PM Don't worry - Sony needs a talking point on how how many users logged onto BD-Live and this is the perfect excuse.
Maxx_75 04-29-09, 03:22 AM I think that its a ploy to get people to figure out how to work their players. People are learning their settings and updating their firmware. Its great. They e-mail you the voucher to print, no sweat.
Todd Jensen 05-06-09, 03:48 PM I just realized that you need the cellophane wrapper to redeem the code. I dutifully logged on to Blu-Ray live, and realized that I have thrown out my free ticket. Off to dumpster dive. Hopefully I can find it.
edit: I called Sony and they just gave me a new code. Simple. They even answered on the first ring.
