View Full Version : Max Payne 1 & 2 out on XBO
Max Payne 1 and 2 are now aviable on the Canadian (and I assume USA) Xbox Orginal's makertplace.
1 is 1,200ms points and I assume 2 is as well through I forgot to check.
I've spent a good 30 minutes on the XBO verison and it seems faithful to the orginal.
dragonyeuw 04-28-09, 06:17 PM Hardly a good deal with the used physical copies readily available in game stores for what, $3?

The fact that I can play them off my HDD without worrying about having or swapping the disc is worth the extra few dollars for it. Good deal to me.
eatenbacktolife 04-28-09, 09:46 PM I bought both games when they were new for the xbox, but if I were to repurchase I would get the $15 bundle on Steam and get the superior versions for less money.

Wow. so you'd pay extra to avoid the 10 seconds it takes to get off the couch and swap discs? Whatever floats your boat,bud..
I paid so that I was supporting the developer and since my friends lost my copy, may as well buy "new" and support the developer rather buy used copies.
Had I known it was on steam I might have bought it on there.

Fair enough, that's a very good reason imho. But doing it to not have to get off the couch and change discs...well... anyways I don't want to stray off topic. Max Payne on XO...yay(no sarcasm, I loved the original)

Jump to conclusions much? Anyway...with the new girlfriend and her kids I have learned to appreciate digital copies so I can keep the originals safe. It is much simpler to buy one digital copy then to buy the discs over and over. No searching around the house for them and when you do find them you aren't wondering if they will even play anymore. Since I lost 5 discs this way they are locked up for safe keeping...To no longer become plates at the little girl tea party. So for the future you might want to pull your head out of your rear before making such comments.

Jump to what conclusions? I based my comment off what you said originally, which was you thought it was worth it so you wouldn't have to swap disks. Wasn't that your original comment? It's only now you're coming up with this long, drawn out tale that I could care less about. Have a good one
whiskey > work 04-29-09, 07:59 PM I can find these games for about a buck. That is all

Yes I did say that but I also made a comment about not having to worry about not having the disc as well. I really wasn't trying to get into all this but thanks to your condescending comment about how I can't unglue myself from my furniture long enough to put a disc in the tray I don't have much of a choice. So in the spirit of not derailing the thread I will leave it as...This is why Baskin Robbins comes in 31 flavors. You have your way and I have mine.
Max Payne rox!!!

Consider that you initiated this by replying to something I said from the outset. If your longer story had been your original reply, I wouldn't have made any comment at all about taking the 10 seconds to get off the couch. My original response was directly relevant to what you originally said, not the longer story about original copies, losing 5 discs, and tea parties. So, yeah, I'll opt for the $2 scoop, you can opt for the $15(for the same flavor). Anyways, enjoy the game man, life's too short.
Just out of curisoty, anyone buying/playing the games out of order? Even through I bought number one I'm sorely tempted to skip right to number 2...
Caribwoy2000 04-30-09, 09:34 AM Only played it on the PC.... How are the controls?

well for 1, akward compared to modern games. Its not Halo 3, buts its very playable, theres a aim lock on so if you go into bullet time and keep firing your pretty much going to get a kill everytime.

Well when I bought 1...2 wasn't out yet so I couldn't play them out of order. I also wouldn't rush to 2. You don't want to miss the full enjoyment of 1.

Yeah that is how I played them as well. MP2 was one of the last games I played on the PC before DRM from another game FUBARed my PC.
Side Note: Anyone remember the name of the game like Max Payne but the guy had a dog with him?

Dead to Rights, I believe, which is getting a remake of sorts.
Also, personally, I think that 1 had the better storyline and was mostly a better game myself, except for the lack of widescreen and not being able to stay on the ground and keep shooting. Regardless of which you prefer, I definitely wouldn't play them out of order either.
And another good reason to use the download version is that you can't install Xbox games to the hard drive, so you get the tons of noise from the drive when playing off disc.
eatenbacktolife 04-30-09, 11:36 PM I would play them in order, even though I think part 2 is the superior game.
Dead to rights was/is a great game up untill near the end when it starts getting a little crazy.
I loved the grave yard with clowns part.

Yes...That's it!!! I knew it was something Rights. Fun game. Googling "Like Max Payne with a dog didn't help much. I also agree that MP1 was better.
No kidding...You can't put XO games on the hard drive from the disc? Lame.
Anyone find it interesting that Max Payne 1 was about 1.2 GB? Anyone remeber how many CD/install was for computer?>
