So I was looking for my HD camcorder and I thought "why not look on eBay" to have an idea of the prices.
Two sellers (are we allowed to name them?) with a good feedback and gigantic sales numbers interested me, so I read through their description.

One of them said : "All of our products are covered by a warranty of 1 years parts and 90 days for labor. Due to our very low low prices, we are prevented from listing our items with manufacturer warranty. Our products are the same as if you bought in stores".

Upon looking on ResellerRatings, I found out that all the sellers I found on eBay had bad feedback even if their eBay score was close to perfection (>99% with >20 000 sales). Most of the problems I read through on RR were about the seller removing the warranty card from the box...

So I was wondering, did anybody else hear about this? Is this gray market? The sellers claim it's not...

If its a camcorder from Japan market, its most likely "gray" market and the warranty will likely work only in Japan. If its from Hong Kong, it could also be a "gray" market and be a Japan only model or sometimes referb's just marked as new. Warranty cards may not be included, cause that could be tied back to the seller, and they're not supposed to be selling out of region.

Its more of a risk to purchase out of your region. Most manufacturer's warranty are not covered world wide and are mostly region specific. Now if you do want to order off ebay, you can use squaretrade to get an extended warranty. Think's its around 10% item's price for a 3yr warranty.

Thanks. But the sellers are located in the US... you mean they're selling Japan products in the US while they're not supposed to?
