So basically, the WDTV Still stands as the king!

First and foremost, did anyone say FUGLY (and that goes for the remote too)!? Second, no HDMI, no 1080p. Hmm, doubt this will make too many ripples.

At this point for any product to move the WD HD TV over it'd have to have more features at or very close to the same price point, especially after the pre-releases that took community input into account.

Exactly, Im not getting pinned down to one type of drive for anything! Seagate is going to tank on this one. Plus it only does half of what WD does.

HAHA are they serious and you have to use their drive. How are they gonna put this out when it doesn't touch the WDTV. Very strange and it costs a little more.

Interesting. I like the docking feature. ISO support is a nice feature too.

It has a COAX digital out, so that's not the problem. However...

1080i output max. (-> likely considerably inferior chipset), no H.264 / VC-1 decoding support, no FLAC decoding etc. etc.

Seriously, what were they thinking? Hate to say the word, but 'fail' pretty much sums it up. Competition is always good from the consumer perspective, so Seagate, get your act together and develop something that can actually be considered 'competition' to the WD TV-HD, a big success by one of your major competitors.

hahaha, i remember seeing an electronic trade show preview video of this a few months ago. it looked wishy washy based on their presentation, and that was before they even fully disclosed the feature set. i feel really bad for them that they so completely missed the mark on almost all aspects (HDMI, MKV, etc), as they are a good company otherwise and would have given WD a run for its money. the WDTV could really stand to see some serious competition at the brick and mortar stores, so that the consumer could ultimately benefit from more innovation...

See what makes me laugh when people 8-itch about DVD menu support is that, the WD TV never even claimed to play DVD's at all. It was suppoust to be a simple mp3/video/jpg player O_O. Maybe if they had read the box/manual... now just because it has many other deatures doesn't mean is a pos just because it doesn't have those ugly low res DVD menus o_O.

Then again thats just me... and maybe a few million others :D


Btw thats one heck of an ugly seagate player... looks twice as big as a WD TV yet technically the technology it containts would be packed in half a WD TV.... what a waste of caps/trans etc O_O

looks like wd still has the low end video player niche locked up.... at least until somebody else comes out with the exact same thing as wd WITH dvd menus. :D
