Ubisoft's released sales data for its fourth fiscal quarter, revealing that long-missing Splinter Cell Conviction will finally be released this Christmas.

Ubsisoft also confirmed that a brand new Ghost Recon game, called just "Ghost Recon 4" will be released in "2009-2010", just as CVG revealed earlier this year.

"In 2008-09, we... continued to invest heavily in Ubisoft's future potential, hiring some 1,300 talents for our studios with a view to driving the Company's expansion, further strengthening our franchises and preparing for the next generation of handheld as well as home consoles," the company said in a statement.

"The results of these efforts will be seen as early as this Christmas with one of the industry's most ambitious games line-ups which will include Assassin's Creed 2, James Cameron's Avatar, Splinter Cell Conviction, Rabbids Go Home and Red Steel 2."

Both Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon are expected to be unveiled at E3 in June.

Hopefully this means they're going back to the basics (aka the non Advanced Warfare stuff), because that was far superior as far as I'm concerned.

I hated the advanced warfare stuff, I just wanted to sneak around and shoot people, non of these drones and stupid HUD

Mixed feelings here. Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell were, at times, two of my favorite video game franchises, period. However, I got tired of GRAW after GRAW 2 and I got turned off by SC: Double Agent (especially the MP). Same goes for Rainbow Six actually; used to be my absolute favorite, now I don't even own Vegas or Vegas 2 anymore. These Tom Clancy franchises are just getting a bit tired IMHO.

They keep cranking out more of the same thing and trying to "hip it up." Doesn't really work all the time. The first Splinter Cell game was so unique, it just kept getting more and more out there though.

I'm ready for another Splinter Cell. Chaos Theory was one of my favorite games on the Xbox. Double Agent on the 360 disappointed me, Double Agent on the original Xbox was a lot more like Chaos Theory (primarily since it still had the co-op game play).

I liked Chaos Theory so much that I bought a friend of mine an Xbox and the game so I could have someone work the co-op game with me (I played through 3 of the co-op missions by myself, split screen, right side screen - controller on right leg, left side screen - controller on left leg). Since I bought him a 360 for Christmas '08 I'd love for a good Splinter Cell game to come out....as long as it still had a great co-op mode. LOL

ha ha....well one of my other friends who I sold my launch console to when I bought an Elite turned out to be a big Splinter Cell fan from the Xbox days as well...so we went through Chaos co-op and then bought the Xbox version of Double Agent to run the co-op there, using the 360's BC on both games. (I have the 360 version of Double Agent as well).

Yes it was! The Xbox version was 99% different than the 360 version and only shared characters and a base storyline in common. It's worth it to play through the Xbox version in BC if you get a chance.

there's nothing fun about it, GR and GRIT were the best GR games to be released for any Xbox, and everything went downhill after GR2 was released. if they go back to the original GR format for GR4, that would be SICK, but i HIGHLY doubt that will be the case...

It will never happen, Ubi rather appeal to the masses and the COD4 crowd(Yeah I played it a bunch too). After the original Ghost Recon Ubi had designed the best team based tactical shooter ever IMHO(this was on PC, I didnt play on consoles back then) and they just scrapped the idea to get a better mass audience. Ghost Recon tactically probably will never appear again and its a dam shame.

I wouldn't say the guys at Shanghai are scrubs. I thought Double Agent on 360 was great, but Double Agent on Xbox was a little better. They're actually both worth playing through. The guys at Shanghai made Pandora Tomorrow, which was great.

Just to spark some outrage, my opinion: These games are boring and the publishers need to cease generating endless sequels. It seems like every few months, there's a new Ghost this, Rainbow that, and they're all much the same.

Your outrage is from a game that last came out 2 years ago? I don't even want to know the response with the new Madden games.

I'm not outraged, I'm just wondering how other people feel about these shovelware squad shooters. Any game that has "Ghost", "Rainbow", etc., in the title, regardless of when it was last released, seems to be boring crap. Maybe I just don't understand the genre.

Sounds like you've only played the watered down generic console versions of the games. The original Rainbow Six and Ghost Squad series were pretty much unlike anything since.

Probably, although I distinctly recall playing the very first Rainbow Six back in 1998 and being equally put-off. The single player was along the lines of "OK, here's a little map, so give some orders... Tell your squad to stand here, flashbang here, and then run in and shoot everyone. OK, go!" and then you'd watch and your guys would get stuck on walls and flashbang themselves and it was just a mess. The multiplayer, it seemed that the key "claim to fame", was the ability to be able to kill your own teammates. Considering both teams seemed to be wearing more or less identical outfits (particularly in the shadow), I could never figure out who was or was not on my team. I guess I'm just bad at the genre, or don't understand it.

:) Yes! My exact experience with the first RB6 on the PC!

do you play it on an original Xbox or a 360? as far as i know, the headsets don't work with them if you're playing it on a 360...

I can play it on either one as I still have my WORKING LAUNCH XBOX..;)..Unlike my sorry launch 360 "on #4 now"...

Im not real great at GR/GRIT multiplayer but I have played firefight a lot by myself and enjoy that...We should hook up sometime.
