Hi, I just received my HG20 from Amazon. I love it. However, I hear a sound when I shake it gently. I did find any losing part. Is it normal? Should I exchange another one?

I assume you hear the clunky sound when the cam is off right?

That's normal, it's probably the hard drive protection thing, or something like that.

That sound should go away once the cam is on/in operation.

BTW: since you bought yours from Amazon, does your camcorder have the red tag and promotional sticker on the LCD cover?

I took pictures as I opened the Canon HG20 box (back on Dec 5th). Amazon had a sale and I picked it up for $537 shipped (from Amazon LLC).
I just looked at the pictures and my camera did not come with any stickers or protective cover on LCD. There was no indication what so ever that the camera and other accessories had been opened/touched/repacked.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, you are right. When I trun on the cam in the video and photo modes, the sound is gone. My cam doesn't have red tag and promotional sticker on LED. Is that mean it is a returned item?

I'm not sure, that's what I'm trying to find out, this really paranoids the hell out of me. But since quite a few people have said that they don't have the tag/sticker either (usually bought from Amazon), so I'm going to assume it's packaged differently from retail stores.

I'm going to give it a rest. Just curious, don't worry about it (one year factory warranty).

wow, that is a wierd sound. Just shook mine with it off. I'm on my second one and neither had tags on the camera.

The sound is completely normal if it only happens when the camera is not in record mode. It is elements of the image stabilization system jostling around, which doesn't happen when in record mode because the lens is suspended by gyroscopes or something.

I bought 2 HG20's from Amazon - one had tags and stickers and the other didn't - not sure what to make of this.
