View Full Version : Wolverine demo up eatenbacktolife 04-30-09, 11:39 PM It's buried in the games marketplace like most brand new demos, but it's up there if you want to try it. mboojigga 05-01-09, 01:01 AM I love the feature to just go to Xbox.com and simply press a button for download. Thanks. Oh here is the link for quick access. http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d80241560816/?p=1&of=1&sb=1 dragonyeuw 05-01-09, 07:35 AM UK ign site gave this a 7.8, basically saying it bucks the trend of poorly-developed movie cash-in games to deliver a satisfying, Wolverine experience. Think I may end up taking a shot at this one..... Yrd 05-01-09, 08:17 AM Euro Gamer gave it a 5/10. dragonyeuw 05-01-09, 08:40 AM lol well guess it's one of those 'have to play it for yourself' kinda games. The gamefaqs boards seem to be mostly positive feedback, I tend to listen to everyday gamers moreso than the reviewers for some reason. mboojigga 05-01-09, 08:56 AM I played the demo last night it was pretty fun. I am going to pick this up. calv1n 05-01-09, 10:51 AM I've had the full retail for a few days now and posted a review last week if your interested it's here. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1142307 Cheers Calvin modiGTI 05-01-09, 11:04 AM I wasn't expecting much but the demo was pretty fun. I might pick it up later on when it's cheaper. Yrd 05-01-09, 08:54 PM I wasn't expecting much but the demo was pretty fun. I might pick it up later on when it's cheaper. Yeah just played it myself and had a blast, I'll grab it when it's cheaper. logicalnoise 05-02-09, 01:01 PM once it reaches 40 bucks I'll have to buy. Lots fo fun good graphics at the 10 minutes I spent playing the demo fare xceeded anything in the POS movie. zombiefever 05-02-09, 01:47 PM Opening cinematic was better then the actual movie. Gameplay is pretty ho-hum though. jasonstiller 05-02-09, 06:53 PM The demo was great! made me want to see the movie real bad joerod 05-02-09, 08:48 PM The demo was great! made me want to see the movie real bad I agree. I liked the movie but was expecting more. dragonyeuw 05-03-09, 05:38 AM The demo was great! made me want to see the movie real bad You'll probably be letdown after playing the game maximuslcd 05-03-09, 08:43 AM The demo was great! made me want to see the movie real bad Took my son last night...It was good, answers some questions..and raise's a few others. Def worth seeing if your an x-men fan logicalnoise 05-03-09, 11:00 AM Took my son last night...It was good, answers some questions..and raise's a few others. Def worth seeing if your an x-men fan honestly the movie is as deep as wet spot on a lawn chair.and I'm a xmen fa, wolvies past is done way betetr in the animated show. thejokell 05-03-09, 02:42 PM Took my son last night...It was good, answers some questions..and raise's a few others. Def worth seeing if your an x-men fan I would say it's only worth seeing if you're NOT an X-Men fan. Or maybe if your only exposure to the X-Men are the films. But if you read the comic you probably won't like it... dragonyeuw 05-03-09, 04:06 PM I would say it's only worth seeing if you're NOT an X-Men fan. Or maybe if your only exposure to the X-Men are the films. But if you read the comic you probably won't like it... Exactly, I agree. What I don't understand is, Wolverine's origin is pretty set in stone, at least the important parts ( how he got his adamantium, how he lost his memory, etc). How hard is it to simply adapt what has already been laid out for you via comics and cartoons the past 40 years? satinsilverstang 05-03-09, 04:10 PM I echo most of the sentiments here, demo was great, movie was a letdown personally for me. Too much was changed and they did not even try to paint Creed as much of the psychopath that he really should have been. TonyDP 05-04-09, 09:11 AM With regard to the demo, I tried it and it was a lot of fun. Tight control, great graphics, nice cinemas, good voicework, lots of moves, and even some simple RPG style character upgrades to spruce up the gameplay as you go along. I had some store credit at GameStop and decided to pick up a copy. With regard to the movie, I'm not much of an X-Men/mutants fan (more of a DC aficionado) so I was able to go into it without any expectations. From that perspective, I found it to be a good action film with some cool characters. I'm sure its not 100% faithful to the comics from what I know of them, most characters look different from their 4 color counterparts, and there are some significant plotholes. On the other hand, there are some good performances (especially Jackman and Liev Schrieber), some good action sequences and the film is almost never slow or boring. I found the first two X-Men films a little too slow, plodding and angst ridden for my tastes; they may have been far more faithful to the comics but that didn't necessarily translate into good cinema for me. X-Men Origins: Wolverine on the other hand was quite a rollicking adventure. As long as you don't go in expecting extreme adherence to the comic, you'll probably get have a good time. Looking forward to getting the BluRay down the road. logicalnoise 05-04-09, 09:26 AM so only on the 3rd level or so(just got my adamanitum claws and am breaking out of the weapon X facility). The game is getting near ninja gaiden in difficulty. But the game also is staying very true to the comics wolverine. Every cutscene is a joy because it's wolvie being wolvie. There's some brillant easter eggs to be found. For instance in the first level(which is a bit different from the demo), I found the Hatch from LOST! and got a achievemnt called "FOUND!". As for the movie it's a POS. Yes I'm a xmen fan but honestly grew up on the cartoon more than the comics and the cartoon is extremely clean as far as violence and language(this game has a crap ton of both). But really X3 was terrible and wolveirne orgins is worse. At least in X3 the charecters who had poorly done and crap CG filled fights had real reasons for fighting in orgins teh fights are crap and CG filled only there is never really a reason for them(anyone who disagrees explain teh blob fight). In wolveirne you get one line that says oh yeah Creed(BTW not even calling him abretooth is lame as well as never ever explaining how "James" turned into "Logan") is crazy and wolvie isn't. Adamanitum bullets were just about the worst thing they could of done until they revealed Weapon XI(deadpool sans everything that makes deadpoool, deadpool). So gald I didn't pay to see that POS. WHich is funny because I paid 60 for the full wolvie game just absed on one playthrough of the demo. BTW even Hugh jackman admits the game is better stating that they took some of teh scenes and lines scripted by the GAME DEVS because they were better than some of the lines in the movie. Also a note to fox...GAMBIT DOESN'T HAVE TELEKINESIS! when you see him the comics with cards floating around him it's just a card trick he doesn't make the cards float then shoot them with his mind. thejokell 05-04-09, 10:24 AM The funny thing is that I only wanted to see the movie for Gambit and Deadpool, and they completely ruined both characters. RobertR1 05-04-09, 01:12 PM Fry's has the game for $44.95. I enjoyed the demo to buy it for that price. http://shop3.frys.com/product/5899803 RTRic 05-05-09, 06:05 AM The funny thing is that I only wanted to see the movie for Gambit and Deadpool, and they completely ruined both characters. Awww dammit. Don't tell me that. Deadpool is my man. I guess now I will wait to see it on bluray. elezzar 05-06-09, 07:43 AM This game was like playing BloodRayne ( the vampire chick xbox game ) and I loved BloodRayne!!!:D maximuslcd 05-06-09, 12:38 PM I would say it's only worth seeing if you're NOT an X-Men fan. I never read the comic books, only watched the movies...guess that explains why I liked it:confused: |
