View Full Version : NCAA Football 10 New Features
oktoberrust11 05-01-09, 04:42 AM Create-a-school and Season Showdown headline new features this year. Create-a-school sounds like fun, I can create the non-existing football team from my alma mater.

They also have a vid about Season Showdown. Sounds kind of confusing, but you basically pick your team at the beginning, and everything you do, whether single player or online, gets you points (or negative if you have negative sportsmanship), and you get a chance to be in the final 32 teams at the end of the season. Looking forward to another season of NCAA..
Here's why I won't be buying:
The OL/DL interaction is still awful. They won't get what Madden has, which this year is still a joke.
How NFL 2K5 still has better line play than the 2010 series of games is MINDBOGGLING.
Last years CB play was so broken that nothing could redeem it.
Recruiting a team full of 5 star recruits mattered NOTHING to a team full of players that were fast. Speed trumped EVERY other asset.

I don't consider *NOT* being able to get 20 sacks per game with a sprint/swim worse.
How about being unable to get to the QB consistently with 5 star 99 rated seniors against 1 star OL?
coffeemugg 05-29-09, 08:47 AM How about linebackers that can jump 20 feet in the air to Intercept the ball all while having their back to the play?

Not that LBs have anything to do with line play.....I was playing a friend the other night and he did a little Tebow-esque quick jump pass across the middle when out of nowhere one of my computer controlled LBs or safeties comes into the scene like an MMA fighter throwing a round-opening flying-knee from across the cage to make the INT. It was pretty funny. :)

oktoberrust11 06-18-09, 12:12 PM Initial impressions:
In-game menu selection seems a bit sluggish. After you pick your formation, and you scroll through the specific plays, you have to wait a second or two before you can hit the A button to select the play. Kind of annoying.
Another kind of annoying this is this thing that pops up after timeouts and between quarters, that asks how aggressive/safe you want to play a bunch of different aspects of the game. They had something similar last year, but not to this extent. After you do your selections, or hit B to get out of that screen, you then need to re-select either "by formation", or "by play type" or "ask Corso" or whatever, before you can continue; it doesn't "remember" what you had selected before.
The last annoying things is after you pick the play, before you snap the ball, when you hit RT to see the routes of your players, it now gives you a complete overhead shot, as opposed to the angle in all previous years. It's like I'm looking down via a blimp cam. Don't like it.
Otherwise, seems the same as last year. There's some new animations with tackles and catches, but overall the same as 09.

An EA game that's the same as last year? According to them the 360 has maxed out, so why put the same old game out every year.
Only way to get them to make better games is if people stop buying them.

.
Not mind boggling at all. Did anyone truly believe EA would "improve" anything after they got total football exclusivity?
Took them 5 years just to do anything decent with Madden. And thats still just hype until I put the disk in my 360 and see for myself.

I agree. I lost faith in Madden years ago. Its sad that 2k lost their football right. To this day 2k5 has been the best football game ever.
benjamin-benjami 06-20-09, 09:32 PM it seems like this is actually a step back in graphics from last year...
Since Madden is officially retired its time fo a new name...

Madden's name isn't on NCAA 10 ;)

I thought so as well, hoping it's just because it's the demo..
Has anyone come across any good deal on this game?
