I just recently got a Harmony for my family room gear and it was simple to setup and works great. I can't remember the specific model at the moment but it was a simpler one for operating 4 or 5 devices.

Now I'm thinking of getting another Harmony for the home theater gear (currently using a Universal Remote brand). I may even get the exact same model as I have for the family room.

Are there any issues on the PC side with setting up and maintaining two different Harmony remotes? Even if they are the same model? Does the PC setup software handle identifiying and maintaining the component setup for two different remotes?

You have to create a seperate login for each remote. I started creating logins depending on the room the remote would go in, then I just use the same password for all of them. For example:

Remote_LR (Living Room Remote)
Remote_MB (Master Bedroom Remote)
Remote_TH (Theater Remote)

Or you could handle it completely different. Since you are purchasing anyway, get a model like the 670, 880 or higher that allows you control up to 15 devices, and you could use same remote for both rooms. That is unless you need to operate both rooms separately at the same time, just a thought. We use ours to operate the Living Room HT and the Bedroom gear...

Do you have a belt holster for the remote on your pajamas? I'm jk... I just know I would always leave the remote in the other room! I have 4 cordless handsets in my house and every time the phone rings I pray that I find one of them before the machine picks up.

Haha, same here, we only have two, but at least one of them is always MIA... On a more serious note, me and the wife are the only people that use remotes in the house and we are just about always in the same room, so we have no need to have two remotes, the only time we ever watch anything in our room is on a rare occasion before bed...

Hi,

I have a Harmony 650 that I use in my bedroom.

Now before deciding to buy another Harmony (700 or One) for my living room, I want to try it out first. I have some rather exotic audio hardware and need to program a few complex macros, so I prefer to test this myself.

Is it possible to create another temporary second setup for my Harmony 650 by opening a second account, and return to the initial setup later by switching to the first account?
