The channel is ABC (13.1) for me and I've had this skipping problem for months. I even moved within that time frame and it still skips at my new address. Could it be a TV problem? No other HD channels do this, and it's annoying. The sound stays the same, but the video stutters every couple of seconds.

Anything I can do? Thanks.

Could this be WLOS in Ashville, NC?

I get that from them on my HD Samsung but not the HD Sony or the SD Sharp via Charter Cable. It usually ocurs on the feature program or the commercial advertisements but not both. Because of this I think it has to do with a piece of there processing equipment.

I'm in Duluth, MN but I also have a Samsung. You are right though, it's normally only during commercials or feature program. I get it while watching Lost and that sucks. Don't get it for sports though. I don't understand.

It may that the station's encoder is using a feature known as film detection. Basically, on 24p shows (including Lost), the duplicate frames used to get from 24 to 60 are not actually encoded in the stream but are instead flagged in a way that tells the decoder to simply repeat the previous frame. Though this is part of the MPEG2 standard, not all decoders follow it properly, which results in stuttering in the playback. You don't see it on sports and other 60Hz content because there are no duplicate frames.

It's most commonly seen with the Harris NetVX encoder, so you may want to contact the engineer at the station and ask if they're using a NetVX, and if so, if they can disable the setting.
